Thank you for taking in my daughter in your facility, she has made some friends & got top notch care. Your staff is caring & so nice to my teen. Thank you so much for all the help an tools to help my family when I couldn’t. If anything I just want to say thank you & pray that the staff has a safe an wonderful year.

The detox side of the adult units is what you would expect from a detox side how ever the moment they move you to the more " rehab" side which is one door over here's what to expect. Zero support from your so called therapist (courtney) who will meet with you on your day of discharg. Your discharge planner (sonna) who will refer to white patients as racist and will not be honest and makes zero attempt to do her job will be the one to act as if they can help you transition to an actual rehab. The NMHs staff are all amazing and genuinely are people who care and made any bit of the time spent there worth it. The facility for the adult unit it's just a few steps short of API and I would never recommend this place to any family or friends.

We are extremely grateful for all the staff at NSH! What an amazing group of people. This was a huge help to our family and I don’t know where we’d be if we hadn’t utilized them. Thank you to all the staff there!

It’s been 7 years I felt abandoned by the staff they would not let me go trick or treating because they messed me up with another kid I wish I no one will ever go there again felt like I was confined in a room with kids when it was only a medication that was wrong and they sent me there and said I was psychotic basically if you want help go to therapy or go to a doctor that can prescribe you the right medication for you don’t send your if I was a parent don’t send your child here and I am scarred from this experience I will never be supporting or sending someone I love there if I could tell my past self something to get through it it would be this ( to shall pass ) my dad had told me the story of a guy who had a ring that had that on there so if anyone needs this advice please tell them that you are loved and this place will be hard for parents and kids to stay connected I am 16 about to be 17 you are loved by many don’t go here please

I wish I never went here. it amplifies your issues and makes them worse. Being put with a group of 20-30 kids and having to live with them is not a good idea. Half of the staff and therapists don't know what they are doing. Things would get so violent there and staff wouldn't care. Being there terrified me, and most of the staff aren't trained. So please, take this as a warning not to send your kid here. I cant get away from the trauma I got from there. Its a safety hazard mentally and physically. Send your kid to Providence CRC or discovery, but please not here. Update: I was sent back recently, and it was only worse, and unhygenic, they lost some of my clothes, and I never got them back, and I cant even begin on how moldy the food is. Please don't put your kids through this program. Update: They sent some of my things back, it took about 6 months, but at least they did!

Every time I try to contact my child, they never answer the phone it’s to the point where I’m gonna file a complaint to the state of Alaska in regards to this matter cause there is no reason why I’m not able to contact my child while he is in this facility!!! I constantly hear the excuse that there’s not enough phones for the kids to call their parents or the phone connection is bad I am beyond fed up!!!!!

I've Been Working Here For Awhile Now..And I just wanted To say Iam SO GREATFUL For EVERYTHING This Company Stands For.The Awesome Support and Understanding..I see Alot Of Complaints..which is confusing to Me, But Each Person has Their Own Opinion and Own Journey Iam Truly Sorry To Those who's experience was Not Good At Northstar Behavioral Health. Ive also seen people Expecting Their "Issues" To be fixed right Away Remember YOUR part in YOUR Recovery is Always Try to Meet us Halfway, Healing Is A Process..You are Your Own Solution May you find Peace of Mind. I have Struggled almost 10yrs ago with my own issues It Wasn't Easy But I Was Willing To Admit and Face My Own problems ..it's NEVER to late to make a change and to encourage YOURSELF and surround yourself with good people Take Control and accountability.... Just Remember it's Not always gonna be easy, but never lose Hope. You Can Do It. ~Tiff~

The therapists we not helpful, I felt like they were there to collect a paycheck, they only saw her three times and each time in family therapy nothing was done, every thing that was supposed to happen they said I need to do that when she got out, example a safety plan, behavior plan, the only one who listened to her was the psychiatrist, the replacement while the doctor was on vacation, was even ruder than the family therapist. Very frustrating when a child is placed there for serious reasons and to receive the very bare minimum care is unacceptable
