If you are familiar with post-COVID healthcare, you are aware of the significant nursing shortage and selecting a facility for a loved one is absolutely terrifying. The staff at the CO NeuroRestorative genuinely care about their patients and while they supplement with agency staff, they do a good job of taking feedback regarding any issues that may arise, so the regular agency staff tend to be good. No facility is perfect, but we had some excellent nurse and CNA support while we were here. The leadership team is very responsive and because it is a smaller facility, they have the ability to make changes where they need to. The nurse and CNA to patient ratio also allows for the appropriate level of care. The facility serves both acute and non-acute long-term residents and short-term rehab patients ranging from spinal cord injuries to TBIs to strokes to hip surgeries. This is a skilled nursing facility (SNF), but it does not smell like one which may seem like a weird thing to say, but it really does make a difference for anyone living, working, or visiting the facility every day. All rooms are private with a shared bathroom with the adjoining room. They have a common shower room and a hydro tub. They have a kitchen on-site and the food is decent. They do not have an on-site pharmacy, but they never had an issue getting meds in. They have had some supply chain challenges with general supplies on occasion, but nothing that couldn’t be worked around. We had two family members overlap at NeuroRestorative, one for a few weeks following hip surgery and the other for five months between the ICU and transitioning to an injury-specific acute rehab facility. We cannot say enough about the therapy (OT, PT, SLP) team and their dedication to the patients. We watched them work with so many patients and saw great improvements in the months we were there. For being a SNF that does rehab and not a dedicated intense rehab-specific facility, they do very well and their gym is well equipped. The RT they contract is top notch. They also have a magical wound care specialist. We arrived with a late-stage-3 bed store that the hospital was able to stabilize with a sandbed but not actually heal and within two weeks after arrival it was completely resolved, never to come back again. The activities coordinator plans all sorts of activities and keeps it interesting for the residents. They play bingo and Yahtzee, decorate cookies for the holidays, tie-dye shirts, get temporary tattoos and manicures, tend to a vegetable and flower garden and go on adventures in the facility van. They also make trips to Walmart up the road if any residents need to pick something up. For Halloween several of the staff dressed up, for Thanksgiving even non-kitchen staff contributed, and in December they had spirit week, an elf-on-the-shelf dressed in scrubs for everyone to find and a visit from Santa Claus and an elf. They have a lovely courtyard and are very close to Polly A Deane Reservoir/Hine Lake which has a 1-mile loop around for anyone with a loved one that is authorized to adventure out of the facility. The facility is located in a very safe area and having the ability to take a loved one for a walk in the sunshine is so critical to the healing process, so we greatly appreciated this feature. Pro-tips: If you need something, don’t hesitate to ask the leadership team for it. For example, the facility is carpeted which has pros and cons, pro is more home-y, quieter, and no ICU delirium, con is tube feed and tube feed bowel movements both require immediate cleaning. The facilities manager was happy to accommodate whenever we asked, they just don’t plan for super frequent carpet cleaning. We also struggled with condom cath sizing for weeks and all it took was asking the person who does the ordering and voila, proper fitting catheters showed up in central supply! Also, the nurses are usually with patients so the phone doesn't always get answered and it's best to coordinate when you're expecting an outside care provider to call so they know to expect it.

A wonderful place, with wonderful staff! Even though I have no need to go back, I would love to JUST to see the lovely faces of some great people :) Sadaf, Sibi, Ashley.. Not sure if Julie still works there or not but they’re all great nurses. As for care Christina , Tameko & Tiffany (who again not sure if they still work there.) were all amazing!

Your kindess and expertise made all the difference to my wife's stroke recovery. I got to witness you work on a daily basis and I am deeply grateful.

Staff is wonderful and very helpful. Maddie with OT along with Brian with PT helped me get stronger so I could go home. Nurses Krista, Ashley (from NY overnight nurse) Holli, Samantha and Daisy were so helpful if I needed anything. They all took great care of me - thank you all so much.

I was here for rehabilitations after an accident. I was unable to walk or use restroom independently. The medical staff is so great. The female nurses, Sadaf and Sheena, male nurses Sibi, Oleg and Brett, are professional and very kind. Nurse Ashley and all others are good. The female CNA Christina and Ashley , male CNA Jason, are great. They help me even I pushed my call light button nine times a night. Therapists are good. The kitchen manager Justin is so kind to help me with my vegetarian/vegan food. I had an issue with my meals in the beginning but he went out of his way to serve me with the quality vegan/vegetarian food. This is a very clean facility. The housekeepers do great job. Wound care specialist,Martha, did good service. The office staff is very helpful. They don’t have shortage of any PPE . The have snacks available 24 hours a day. Sadaf, Sheena, Sibi, Christina, Ashley , Jason and Justin are great.

Overall we had a positive experience with Care Meridian in the 5 months my mom was there. There are certain star staff members who genuinely care about people and took an interest in the overall well being of my mom. Jenn, Carmen, Isaac, Maria and Simbi were awesome CNA's who cared very well for my mom and did their job exceptionally. Helen (PT), Megan (OT) and Clay (OT) all played a vital role in teaching my mom how to be adaptive and pushing my mom to succeed. Loretta, the case manager is a true Gem to Care Meridian. She works hard and is a source of experience and knowledge in this whole experience. These people, I attribute the success of my moms recovery to. The negatives of the facility mostly occurred at night and their poor staffing. They hire a lot of temps or agency nurses and CNAs and really could do a better job at screening who they allow in their facility. My mom was burned with a heat pack and at the beginning of the stay left unattended for several hours at a time. The nursing director ( I think this role recently changed) who is in charge of the nursing staff and complaints is not very friendly and difficult to communicate with.

Dr. Timothy Poate sent a referral of me to your organization for my severe spinal cord impingement months ago and no one from Neurorestorative ever contacted me. Neurorestorative never told Dr. Poate's office that Neurorestorative is not taking new patients. However, it appears clear that Neurorestorative is not taking new patients but is too busy to tell anyone that. Neither Neurorestorative nor Craig Hospital can take on any new patients.

The lack of care and cleanliness was horrific. We had to ensure that the nursing staff maintained proper care, and sanitized everything before using it. We tried to complain to management, and were told that they met the minimum acceptable standards. Care Meridians standards are not acceptable when it comes to the care of loved ones.
