I absolutely love this place. After breaking my ankle and dislocating my tibia (shin bone), I knew I had to go to Mayo emergency room even though it was much further than other hospitals. They set my tibia back into place but unfortunately my fibula was dislocated so I had a follow-up appointment a few days later. Within a week I was booked for surgery with Dr. Patel. He's amazing! If you ever need ankle surgery you must see him! I had a distal oblique fibula spiral fracture and also cartilage damage on the talus (foot bone that forms an ankle joint with your tibia. I got 8 screws and a plate to put my fibula back together. They also asked me beforehand if I wanted a procedure for my cartilage injury. Normally they mix the patient's blood with cadaver cartilage to fix these injuries, but it is much better to use a patient's own bone marrow, because they have stem cells to mix with the cadaver cartilage to fix these kinds of injuries. I said yes. Two weeks after surgery they took the stitches out and said I was ready to start physical therapy. I have worked with Hillaree Leif and Kalik Skeete. And let me tell you....after being bedridden after surgery for weeks, they know how to make physical therapy FUN! Not only them, but the whole team there is fantastic. It's now 6 weeks post-op and I have started walking! No intense pain either. They had me strengthening my surrounding muscles and gradually got me back up and walking again. I also almost have my full range of motion back! If you're looking for physical therapy, look no more, and go here.
