I have known Lorin for 25 years. Her commitment to making the world a better place is unrivaled. She has taken what she has learned in psychology and applied it to compassion for animals and active healing for those who have been broken by war. What is most amazing is how she keeps a complicated, exhaustive life together through hard work. A visit to Lockwood is an experience, it demonstrates that empathy and love can create a better world for people and animals.

Nanda Currant Director of Theater of Restoration and The Wolf Project Licensed Therapist and M.A in Interdisciplinary Education When I visited the sanctuary and read the stories about the parrots and the veterans caring for them it touched me deeply. along with Dr. Lindner's dedication and integrity with her work. Upon entering the sanctuary early one morning I was greeted by all the voices of the tribe of parrots present. One gorgeous parrot leaned into me and asked" will you be my friend" and I started to cry. The tender way each bird lives in the stories in Dr. Lorin’s book brings a palpable presence of the parrots and those who care for them. The book is profound and unforgettable. The sanctuary itself and all the rescue work, volunteer work is a major achievement.

My experience with Doc Lindner has been extremely positive. Her love and knowledge of wild animals is unquestionable. She is a go to person for anyone who has concerns for canines, wolves, birds and more. I worked with her over many years when we were engaged in supporting and honoring veterans with barbeque meals during Veterans days at UCLA. We had Rotarians, Lions, Los Angeles Community College District employees come out as volunteers with great results.
