I stand up straighter after working with Valerie! I like to be active and I was looking for a practitioner who would help me address my issues proactively. When I first came to Valerie, my neck and shoulders were always stiff and I needed to be extra cautious when I moved. She taught me Counter-shapes to open my chest, strengthen my upper back, and help my spine and shoulders be more flexible. Now I’m more relaxed and can move more naturally without being afraid something is going to hurt. I also I love it when my knees don’t hurt when I walk down the stairs after our sessions! I come to her Core & Mobility class, and I always feel better afterwards, plus I know that if I need personal attention, I can get it in my 1:1 sessions. Loo Movement is awesome and Valerie is my go-to wellness coach!

As someone who is active, fairly flexible, and just turned 30, I was surprised when my shoulder started giving me trouble, seemingly out of nowhere. I did the Loo Movement introductory program with Valerie and not only completely got rid of my shoulder problem (which had actually been brewing for a while) but also learned SO MUCH about how to listen to my body and prevent injuries like these from becoming worse in the future! I thought that pains and soreness were just an inevitable side effect of becoming older, but between 1:1 sessions and some Loo Movement classes, I now feel empowered to keep issues at bay well into my 80’s!

Valerie is incredible! As a fellow PT, I can sometimes focus too much on treating others forget to take time to be curious about my own body. Valerie's approach is very aligned with my values as it is incredibly somatic and nervous system focused. I appreciated the slow pace and safe environment so that I could really encode the subtle yet powerful patterns Valerie was able to bring to my attention. I would highly recommend Loo Movement!

I found and stumbled into Valerie Loo’s LooMovement tai-chi/yoga/restorative movement class almost a year ago … and it’s fundamentally transforming my aging body into one that’s more stable, mobile and calm. It’s been my Sunday church - meditation and care for my physical wellbeing on a weekly basis. LooMovement honors my body. The philosophy is a most-welcomed opposition to “no pain no gain” - more relaxation, more support for my body that wants to stretch, reach, gain durability and inner strength. It’s changed my relationship with my body with bringing more recognition, slower and deeper consciousness. I see Valerie for 1:1 sessions as well for attentive and corrective posture development. I love LooMovement and all that Valerie is about! Highly recommend without reservations!!

‘I’ve always felt imbalanced between my left and right sides, and I was getting back pain when I played golf. I also wanted to start playing pickle ball and ride my bike again, but I had hip surgery a few months ago, and was not sure if it was wise to return to more sports given all these things. My friend recommended Valerie to help with my back pain and help me get stronger and more flexible to return to my sports. Valerie’s Loo Movement mind-body approach has helped me more than anything else I’ve ever tried. It really helped me feel more balanced and aligned. I’m playing pickle ball and riding my bike again, and am super happy about that. I highly recommend her! It’s worth the investment to be able to do the activities you love again.”

Loo Movement provides a unique, thoughtful, and long term approach to improving your physical alignment and overall strength. Working with Valerie has helped me to understand how my body is misaligned. She has given me a set of exercises and stretches, as well as an awareness of how my body reacts to them, which has allowed me to improve my physical self continuously. This has helped me to do things I love (like gardening) by making me less prone injury and strain. I really appreciate all she has done for me and will continue to work with her.

As an athlete and physical therapist who runs A LOT, I took Valerie’s class for my active recovery, because I know I need to keep my body flexible and in balance. We all know stretching helps- it improves our mobility and wellbeing but how many of us do it as much as we should? During the class Valerie guided us through a lot of mobility work and encouraged us to slow down so that we actually felt the benefits of stretching our bodies to the fullest. It was so gentle that at first I didn’t think it would do much, but afterwards, I felt SO much better. For anyone who’s looking to do the sports you love into your 80’s, I highly recommend this class! Valerie is herself an accomplished athlete and former gymnast who understands the needs of people who may have previous or current injuries -I trust her fully and have referred several patients to her as well.

I saw Valerie a few years ago after injuring my ankle pretty badly. She helped get me stabilized and healed up so I could get back to work. More recently though, I have been struggling with anxiety and insomnia. I decided to try a Qigong fusion class from her and I was blown away. It's helped me reset my energy and sleep like a baby. I haven't woken up feeling that refreshed in years! Valerie is a very skilled healer with a vast knowledge and array of modalities to help her clients. I highly recommend working with her or taking her classes!
