I have had a few youths complete this program with remarkable results. Staff has always been polite, respectful and care a great deal about the kids. At first my youths complained how awful the place was, but after realizing they needed to be there, they did a complete turnaround and are doing wonderful back at home with their families. They later admitted that the place wasn’t that bad, they just did not want to be there and were trying anything they could to be removed. They both have expressed how grateful they are to have been there and learned a lot. They loved their therapists too!

My granddaughter was at laurel oaks for 5 days and on her 4th day she got laughed at while having a panic attack by the staff. Miss Tina and Tonya also said "I get to go HOME and look in the mirror and see how pretty I AM" as she was having a panic attack about going home. According to my granddaughter she would not recommend laurel oaks to anyone.

I am writing to share my experience during my stay at Laurel Oaks Behavioral Health Inpatient Hospital when I was 14 years old. The only reason this rate is 1 star and not 0 is because there is no option. I stayed for two days, and I must say that it was a distressing and unhelpful experience, especially for someone dealing with anxiety or other serious mental health issues. Firstly, the environment at Laurel Oaks was far from therapeutic. The facility had severe hygiene issues, including the presence of bed bugs and roaches. This is unacceptable and only added to the stress of being there. Moreover, the staff behavior was highly unprofessional and concerning. I witnessed staff members body-slamming patients and gossiping with their favorite group of patients about others. This behavior not only fosters a toxic environment but also contributes to the deterioration of mental health for those who are already vulnerable. The overall atmosphere was chaotic and intimidating. The place seemed more suited for kids who engage in fights rather than those seeking help for real issues. Throughout my two-day stay, there was no constructive activity or therapy provided. Instead, we were left to color pictures while fights broke out around us, and derogatory comments were made about those who were already struggling. Adding to the distress, staff members threatened those who were scared and wanted to leave by telling them that their parents would have to pay thousands of dollars per night if they were taken out early. This kind of manipulation is not only unethical but also extremely damaging to a patient’s mental well-being. Ultimately, Laurel Oaks Behavioral Health Inpatient Hospital is not a suitable environment for individuals seeking help for serious mental health issues. The lack of professionalism, inadequate hygiene, and harmful behavior by the staff make it a detrimental place for anyone needing real support and care. My stay there left me feeling worse than when I arrived, and I would not recommend this facility to anyone in need of genuine mental health care.

I was in this place from 9/1987 til the end of 1988. This place was located next to Boardwalk and Baseball in orlando not far from SeaWorld. They kept me in a padded room in a paper gown most of the time I was there and they kept giving me shots in the butt that would knock me out. When I was awake they kept me all drugged up on a bunch of drugs. I couldn't concentrate or be myself. The male staff was very abusive not to just me but others. I seen a kid get body slammed in the group room. This place isn't for children If you really love them and want them to change. Do some research and find a better place for them. A place that actually cares for the kids. I pray this place actually gets shut down and losses their licenses cause it's no way to run a business and you don't treat children the way these people do at this place. If this place isn't in florida anymore Thank God. But don't put your children in any behavior program with the Laurel oaks name. I pray someone sues this place for miss treating their children and shuts it down for good taking the license for indefinitely.

I was admitted here June 29 and stayed for about two weeks. They sorely mismanaged my medications, I have a pre-existing health condition and it took them 3 days to get me any of the meds I needed for it, then an ER trip for them to get me the correct dosage. Then they put me on psych meds that worsened the symptoms of my physical condition. I was passing out here more times that I can count, I remember waking up on the bathroom floor with ringing in my ears, and I’m not sure if they even filed the proper paperwork for that. The lunch staff is awesome though.

The staff at Laurel Oaks treated my son with respect and compassion. He is feeling much better about life and how he deals with situations that are totally out of his control. Thank you for your support and guidance you provided to my son.

Still waitin' to file a lawsuit against y'all. Traumatized me surely, and left with laundry that was really wet and it wasn't even dried. I expected better of this place. Think before you send your kids here.

Me and my fiance took our son here. They didn't change his meds or dosages. The entire time he was there he fought other children and was sent home for good behavior after two weeks. If anything our child acts worse then he did before. This is the worst place I have ever had the displeasure of seeing. The staff are a joke cursing in front of the children. And the doctors are quacks. If you actually need help for your kids this is not the place. And people that don't want their kids seem to dump them here like it's a day care so children that actually need help don't get the help they deserve. Avoid laurel oaks at all cost.
