This place is depressing the moment you walk in don’t let the bright white paint fool you. There’s patients in their wheel chairs in the hallway just awaiting for ? The rooms are three bed of ancient models. The furniture is as bad. The nurse came in once and only peeked from a far in the three hours I was there. My relative passed the following day.

My mother passed away a few weeks ago at this horrible place due to negligence, neglect and laziness. If they would simply follow doctors instructions and get patients out of the bed each day, have pressure cuffs on the legs on immobilie patients my mom would not have suffered blood clots that killed her at only 58 years old. They barely change your loved ones, never bathe them, layers of dead skin on my mom scrubbed away by the nurses before the coroner picked her up. They did not call an ambulance when my moms leg went cold from a clot, they put an oxygen machine on her and let her die, ignoring her calls for help. Instead laziness they put an oxygen mask on her to shut her up where minutes later they found her dead. We had no choice but to keep her here due to her insurance.. go anywhere else, don’t send your loved ones here. It’s a nightmare for family and most of all your loved one. I wish I could go back in time to leave her at the facility she was at prior to La Jolla.. at least they had cuffs on her legs to prevent blood clots. Complaining will do nothing they don’t care. No amount of complaining or high up mattered. These people care for no one and have no compassion. Only 2 nurses Mike and another woman were kind. Resource ladies don’t help worth a damn they sit in an office with a sign on the door that says in meeting so you won’t bother them. They sit around talking all day and don’t do a thing you ask as far as resources. My mom told me before she passed that her neighbor passed away and they left her in bed next to my mother and she Smelled bad. I truly thought my mom might have been confused, what facility would do that?? Come to find out that after my mom passed away they were leaving her in her bed until the morgue came. I called the morgue to get her the heck out of there! Traumatizing for everyone and still trying to make sense of how this place is still running. I plan to report this hell hole to anyone who will listen!

Working in the healthcare field myself I have never experienced the lack of empathy, respect, and dignity this facility provides to their patients and families. My mother recently passed away due to straight out neglect. There were times I’d visit my mother and ask multiple staff if she could be showered and they said they would. I’d come the next day to see her in the same dirty clothing. They never brushed my mothers teeth unless I complained. I tried to speak with the case managers multiple times to get resources and talk about the lack of care my mother was receiving, but they were always busy to talk. There are a few CNA’s there that should not be allowed to care for other people. My mother would request to be changed and they would snap at her. One CNA even took off my mothers diaper and put it in her face saying, “see you are dry ok!” We reported this and instead of the CNA being let go they informed us that they told her she can’t be in my mothers room. My mothers room was right next to the nurses station where you could overhear the staff mocking patients that were asking for help. It sickened me to know that the day my mom passed away she informed staff that she couldn’t breathe they put a oxygen mask on her instead of calling an ambulance. They left my mothers room only to return to her being deceased. This place needs to be shutdown!!

I saw this last week in a couple of resident rooms, clearly a trip and big time fire hazard. Be careful if you put anyone in here. The place is rundown, and basically a dump. Don’t be fooled by their online pictures because those things don’t exist, these pictures are what the place is about. Being La Jolla doesn’t mean anything, there’s trash all over the parking lot and absolutely no parking. And there is zero communication with family. Rumor in La Jolla village is it’s called La Horror. Update!!! DO NOT put even your worse enemy in this place! This place is a horror and what little care they receive is bad. The turn over in staff is like a revolving door, administration doesn’t care and social services just sit in their offices, never ever saw a nursing supervisor or any concern for patients. A lot of the patients appear to be homeless.

I, Trimble-retired RN., I had Hip Replacement surgery doing post op Rehab, a patient here @ LaJolla Torry Pines Skilled nursing n Rehab La Jolla finds this facility very open n clean, no foul smell..has 30ft ceilings in the lobby w grand beautiful ambience. , spacious dining room.Ocean breeze, beautiful courtyard w a fountain where patients can walk exercise or sunning. Staff comes check up on u when u re in the lobby. Food deliveries re notified. It’s a delight to do Rehab here… Torry Pines Cares!! It’s a very organized facility w effective communication skills👍 Diet:- they give us nutritional balanced meals.w many alternative choices. What impressed me is they ve 2 CNAs in dining room during meal times to attend to our needs. Very attentive n kind..They make everyone satisfied. Weights:- Torry Pines has someone designated to weigh every patient, very efficient n kind. Shower:- Torry has a shower lady who showers us @ a designated day. The shower s huge, the water flow s very strong, nice n warm. It’s very pleasant. The LVNS re dedicated to their jobs giving medications kind n efficient. The CNAs work as a team here they answer the bell in a timely manner. I was in a room total 3 patients but the room s huge I felt comfortable. I could breathe. Torry Pines has huge rooms w high ceilings. Now I m in a semi private room. Room s spacious….w 10ft ceilings. I feel the 1* reviews were very careless n unfair. I feel very lucky to be here for Rehab. I m getting excellent 5* care.. I would refer Torry Pines to all my friends n associates. Bravo, good job Torry Pines LaJolla Skilled Nursing n Tehab👍❤️

Abousulotly the worst run facility in the County, I have been here 7 days and had had to inderr unprofessional management, very poor communication between staff, incompetent and not healthy or nutritious meals ( to salty or or cooked vegetables) not complacent with dietary guidelines or restrictions. Administration not caring about employee safety or abilities, staff nurse's and Aides are overwhelmed with 13 to 15 patients each each shift, and they DO NOT help each other during breaks or lunch, no one steps in till their return, call buttons are answered no sooner then 30 minutes after pushed. Overall this place is not a place to be if you need long term care. Therphy staff is 10 star, and very professional and courteous and caring, and other than the Director the.rest of office staff or great. Unless owners change Director don't send a loved one here, all employess do their job but you can tell by their expressions they are not happy working here. under this management..

There isn’t anyone there to greet visitors. The place is like a hospital with three patients crammed into a room. It is noisy and not at all the peaceful place you’d want your loved one to be in. When I visited, patients told me that they did not have call buttons for assistance but had to turn on a light. It took nearly 25 minutes for a staff member to appear for a patient that needed changing. The person I went to visit told me that she had gone all day without her medication. On the other hand, the staff thatI did come in contact with were very nice. I’m not sure if they’re just short staffed but I was certainly shocked by this care facility.

Rehab section at this place is awesome, but the long care “hospice "section is kinda strange, the smell of urine is noticeable, patients rolling around in the hallway, and the staff look burnt out from dealing with patients that can’t help themselves. I’ll give this place 3 stars for there hard work and for working in a dreadful situation.
