Kingsville Nursing and Rehabilitation center wasn't the most comforting place. It seemed more like a facility to be placed in to die. One particular hall smelled like urine. On a lighter note, the nurses were all kind and cheerful. As far as I could see they were all working hard, never just standing around joking as they do in emergency rooms. The facility is huge so I'm sure they've got there work cut out for them. Also, my mother did much better there then at the hospital. Thank you for accepting her there, and all is well. While we had a family member admitted to KNC for rehabilitation after a fall, we had a positive experience. During this time, the staff and administration were professional and compassionate. Always keeping us updated with information. Thank you to all the hard working nurses, exceptional therapist, CNA’s, cafeteria staff providing excellent food, and office/administration staff.

My husband has been a short term resident twice. I will never pick any other rehabilitation center. Nurses, Cna's, Administration & front desk is amazing & very helpful. Made My Husband feel at home. Always so prompt to answer my questions and concerns. Physical, Occupational and Speech therapy worked with him daily to gain strength and learn to feed himself again. Thank you so much for all y'all's hard work We really appreciate it!

I had previously posted a great review upon my mothers entry on monday july 15th. Now i am at the emergency room with my mother on friday july 19th at 3 am. I received a phone call from the nursing home that my mother fell out of bed. I am not sure what happened my mother does not move period!!!!! Never rolls never turns and never has she fallen out of bed. I have been her care taker for 2-1/2 years. I am 62 yeaes old she has always laid on her back and never ever does she or has she rolled on her side. I will unfortunately be installing security cameras. I have seen them in the nursinng home and wondered why do people have security cameras. Never did i ever think that in 4 days this would happen. You have a very hard decision to make when you place a loved one in a nursing facility. You trust everyone there that they will look after your loved one and that you will not be forced to watch them with cameras. I am appalled and so terribly upset. Thank God she seems to be ok do not have all the reaults yet. Something happened and i want to know the truth. This is unexceptable.

Very poor work ethics. Told by one specific nurse Brittany how she had no concern for my mother. Had more falls there than at home. Noone calls back or answers a phone.

Social Worker Christy Lopez was wonderful. This may sound like a small thing but it increased my comfort dramatically. Supper was at 5:00. I told Christy I was accoustom to eating a snack at 9:00 in the evening and she made it happen. Not only that but I had paperwork I needed to get to Kingsville housing and she helped me make copies of bank info., contact my landlord, and get the paperwork to the housing authority within a 2 day deadline. She set up in home therapy for me for whenI was discharged. When another patient seemed depressed, Christy spoke with them and soon they were out of their room and participating in events again. When I told Christy I was disappointed with my medical care in the community, she was able to suggest options that ai had no idea were available. Perhaps most of importantly, when I discharged from Kingsville Nursing and Rehab, she made a comprehensive list of things I needed to attend to in the following weeks. I don’t know why I find that sort of thing so difficult, but all the different agencies, appointments, and insurance companies sound alike to me and if she hadn’t made the calls and the todo list for me, I know from experience that I would have let them slide and fallen through the cracks of the medical system. I believe that all my time at Kingsville Nursong and Rehab would have come to nought if it hadn’t been for her making it so easy for me to pursue the follow-up steps. I was diagnosed with diabetes 57 years ago and after such a long history, have learned what works for me. CNA Joy Burpe and Charge Nurse Pat Charles both listened to to me and accommodated me. Every other nurse did not listen or accommodate me, I told the nurse I thought my blood sugar was high(500 by my account and 450 by the agencies glucometer (which I don’t think was calibrated correctly). The nurse said my Md was generally hard to get in touch with and she couldn’t give me any insulin until she had an order to do so from my Md. An hour and a half later, I complained that any idiot could see I needed a shot and sometimes people die when their blood sugars are that high and I had called my daughter and told her that if I died, she should sue. The nurse said she would make another call to my Md and within 5 minutes I had a shot to bring my blood sugar down. The nursing staff repeatedly gave me more insulin than I needed and I would say that in the two weeks I was there, for at least 7 of those days, I had 2 insulin reactions a night, which was hey attempted to treat by giving more sweet food than I required to get my sugar up,l, resulting in a yo-yo effect of low and high blood sugars. Although their glucometer once indicated my blood sugar was 39. As previously stated, I didn’t feel like their glucometer was calibrated correctly and in this instance I though my blood sugar felt like it was 29 despite their clams that machine was correct as it was calibrated 2 times daily. Another time their machine read 49 and I was told that wasn’t low but it felt more like 39 to me. I would definitely advise against any patient with diabetes going to this facility unless they could stand up and vehemently argue for themselves. One of the Charge Nurse frequently would talk to patient in a voice that I thought should should have been reserved for bad dogs. I brought that to her attention and to to the attention of the DON and it ended while I was there. One of i that day. I felt that probably reduced this physical therapist’s work load considerably. Despite my complaints about his attitude, I did feel better after seeing him and thought he was a good physical therapist.
