My husband's surgeon was nice, informative & easy to talk to. The scheduler was horrible. Front desk receptionists are lost in outter space. No one seems to understand simple communication. From several appointments to surgery, every single one had been scheduled and rescheduled with no notice whatsoever, KNOWING it was 5 hours each direction to get there. Not to mention my husband's shoulder looks like a hack job. Find somewhere else if any of these things matter to you.

I have never in my life had so much trouble trying to schedule an appt. They need a referral, my Dr sends them 1, it's not the right 1, they need a Medicaid 1, they send another 1, the Drs. Name is not right, they send another 1, my name isn't right, they send yet another 1, now they have not received it! My Drs office has sent at least 5 referrals over & yet I still cannot make an appt. I'm in pain & need an appt ASAP. The ladies making appts are the rudest people I have encountered in a long time. She told me yesterday that she didn't have time to call my Drs office bc as soon as she hung up her phone would be ringing again. I'm done at this point. It's been over a week since my ER visit & I still do not have an Ortho appt.

I dislocated my shoulder and had two shoulder fractures. JSOM got me in to the office in a matter of days and started Physical Therapy the day after my doctor's appointment. JSOM and the Physical Therapist are absolutely amazing. I was so nervous about my first PT visit due to the pain but Daniel put me right at ease. It amazes me the things that I'm accomplishing already in PT.

From the moment that you enter, you are treated with respect and dignity. The front desk ladies are quick to get you registered and necessary paperwork done, all with a smile. The radiologist techs do their jobs with care. The staff is empathic to your injuries or conditions and listens to what your complaint is. I have seen just about everyone at JOSM: Dr. Byrd in 2015, Dr. Fisher, Dr. Haughey, and Dr. Guinn from February 2023-present. Every Dr. has treated with respect and care. They started the healing process immediately to return me to life before my accident. Every step of the way was done with my goals in mind. The PA-C’s and NP’S are very skilled and go above and beyond making sure that you are comfortable with the plan of care. I highly recommend JOSM to anyone and everyone who may need an orthopedic.

I had a long (almost 4 year) battle with pain in my left hip that FINALLY landed me in Dr. Swymn's office at the end of 2020. The battle was namely due to insurance wanting to try different approaches before sending me to Ortho + a battle I had with cancer in the midst + a global pandemic. But, once I finally got there, I was able to get answers from Dr. Swymn immediately. He knew what the problem was without imaging, though he said it was his 'guess' it was SPOT ON. He did send me for specialized imaging and a shot directly to the joint with guidance. The shot worked until the numbing agent wore off. I was in pain 24/7. Some days it was manageable, some days I could barely walk and would have to physically pick up my leg to put it in my car. Dr. Swymn suggested a arthroscopic procedure to debride the cartilage damage to that hip that was caused by something called impingement. I had bone spurs on the socket of the hip that were tearing up cartilage every time the hip flexed. Additionally, he suspected I had what is called a Labral tear, which is when the labrum is torn away from the bone. I had surgery in April 2021 and when I say the pain was immediately relieved...and it wasn't just the drugs from surgery. I could tell a noticeable different upon waking up. He told me there was quite a bit of damage and he had to use 4 anchors to reattach my labrum to my hip. After 12 weeks of physical therapy and learning to walk properly again, I was a new person with freedom of movement I hadn't had in almost 4 years. I am now almost 4 years post-op and forever grateful for Dr. Swymn and this team.
