Jasper VA Clinic

The doctors (ie Dr. Alexander) here are so reluctant on providing pain meds, that they rather see a veteran suffer then trusting a grown responsible man on managing his medication’s. yes, I know there’s an opioid crisis out there, especially when it comes to veterans, but GD they need to quit being so damn paranoid. Unfortunately, previously I had to go to street drugs because I could not get the doctors approval for a adequate painkiller. I do want to go down that path again ever.

Dr Feng is the absolute worst!! Avoid her at all cost. She missed a diagnosis that could have endangered my life not to mention her social skills and English language are far beyond sub par! Run from her and see Dr Alexander!

Many posts like this are negative. Inreturn i can tell you that nurse Jolene cares and works for you. Unfortunately she is the only one and the clinic can not be run by just her. Feng the primary care provider is the worst. A band-aid is uncomfortable for her, so don't bother. The reply with results and directions for treatment have been nonexistent. Not a one of my veteran friends have any good to say about this clinic. because of Dr Feng and the staff that is more than accepting to direct your care somewhere else. Many have stopped seeking care.

Interesting; there used to be a LOT more reviews for this clinic, and most of them had 1-2 star ratings, with the complaints universally calling out the only doctor (Feng) who's worked there for almost a decade (or longer). All of them have vanished; including my review, which detailed the abusive attitude & shoddy treatment I received on multiple occasions from the primary care physician, the first of which I wrote at least 8 years ago. But the last time I looked up the Jasper VA clinic in Google Maps a couple years ago, it had well over a dozen reviews and a sub-2 star rating. But now it only has 7 reviews and a 3.3 rating? I find that highly sus. Everyone else there is decent & capable, it's just they work for the VA, and the system is designed to deny care to veterans who are problematic, for whatever reason (unless you have Tricare, then they'll bend over backwards).

Don't see fing. Cant call her a Dr. Does not talk to you or try to understand your needs, I changed to another at the clinic. At my first appointment he told me that I had been a Diabetic for over a year, fing never even looked at my blood work, ended up in hospital with meds that were not compatible with each other. New Dr is great.

I just got off of active duty and so far I’ve been trying all day to get this office to answer my call to figure out getting an appointment scheduled because I am experiencing mental health issues trying to get my life back together. After calling the Florence office I can’t be helped because “I haven’t uploaded my DD-214” which I was given no instruction on how to do so just told to call the Birmingham office. Is this how we serve our men and women in uniform??? Not to mention it also appeared they hung up the line on me too after I waited for the 3rd or 4th time patiently on the line. This is unacceptable. Respectably, I am aware with COVID the medical field is crazy but is it really that hard to answer the phone and allow me to find help? Or at least call me back. According to the VAs website I am supposed to receive a call from this clinic and work toward getting an appointment. Thanks for nothing. I literally took the day off of work to get an appointment to address my mentally health and all day long the VA has failed to acknowledge me and my efforts. UNACCEPTABLE… Now I’ll have to work even harder to try and find the time to make a successful call during my 10 hour work days during the week. I’m not surprised… Thank you for nothing.

I would not recommend the medical side of this clinic to any veteran. Go to Huntsville or Birmingham, but not this one. The main doctor treats people like they don’t know anything about their own conditions and is very demeaning. I’ve had more than one bad experience with this clinic and it’s all because of the one female doctor. The staff and even the head nurse is great, but unfortunately that’s where it ends.

I've really enjoyed this clinic. The staff is nice and Dr. Singleton and NP Dunn have been very receptive to my needs. Thanks for all you do for our veterans.
