Janey Macey & Associates

My 4 year old grandson has been receiving speech therapy with Janey for a language delay for 2 years. After 2 years he only strings together 2 or 3 words, doesn't use pronouns and cannot pronounce words correctly, we cannot understand most of what he does say. I was asked by my daughter in law to speak with Janey about our concerns. I approached Janey with our concerns and expressed our willingness to help at home with pronunciation. I asked Janey if she could give us some tips, exercises and techniques to do at home to improve his pronunciation. I asked what we could be doing at home to facilitate progress. I asked what things can negatively impact progress. Well she became immediately defensive and refused to give us techniques to use at home with no explanation. She began justifying his progress (or lack thereof) and was reciting her education and therapeutic experience. She was obviously annoyed. After Janey's reaction I immediately expressed our confidence in her capabilities and complimented her expertise repeatedly to no avail. I explained we just wanted to help his pronunciation. I explained his speech issue is causing socialization issues in school and he isn't able to communicate effectively to his teachers Janey was defensive and insulting, she did not encourage or provide techniques to do at home to improve his pronunciation and progress. Why? Most healthcare providers WANT family participation. In my opinion under that superficial friendly, child loving facade lurks a money motivated arrogance not open to any questions or concerns.

Allie at Janey Macey & Associates is absolutely fantastic. I have been taking my son for about a year now and am very pleased with the speech services we receive. A good sign of the care is that my kiddo always wants to go and never wants to leave. Allie connected with my son from day 1 and has made so much progress with him because of the bond she has built. Could not recommend her enough.

We had a problem with our daughters teacher making rude comments about our family when she thought we weren't listening. Approached the owner about it and she handed us our stuff and said "good luck somewhere else". Rude, nasty people and seriously unprofessional. Our daughter has been in speech therapy for almost 2 years and had a great experience, this place managed to run us off in 3 months. Military parents, we were referred here by Tricare and have since been to referral management to file a formal complaint and hopefully defer any future Barksdale patients from being subjected to this place.
