Required to come to HH for an ambulatory multiple times per year. The last two appointments they didn't actually schedule me, despite calling and confirming multiple times. Reception responds by saying "well then, whoever scheduled you lied to you" yikes. Quality here has declined big time.

Howard Head Sport Medicine-Vail Health, you have the worst phone service I have ever experienced. I called the 476-1225 number to simply verify an appointment for a client of mine. I was literally sent in circles following the automated prompts. I finally selected the "existing patient" option only to sit on hold, listening to an automated voice telling me "all representatives are busy" for nearly an hour. Very frustrating. One star for your phone service.

Every therapist I have worked with at Howard Head is world class. Each of them is just as talented as the other - Paul, Andrea, Mark, Pamela, Justin, Nate and those who support them like Brandon and Jacob. If I forgot a name then my mistake as I have only had the most exceptional experience at Howard Head and my surgeon was very pleased to see my progress.

Good physical therapists, but like a previous review mentioned, absolutely obscene price tag. I've dealt with a handful of physical therapists over the years and have never once seen a billed appointment greater than about $250 (typically around $75-150 after insurance). My jaw about hit the floor when I saw a $513 bill for a single 30 minute physical therapy appointment (of which insurance only covered $51 due to "negotiated rates"). They advertise catering to professional athletes, but I wouldn't recommend going here unless you also happen to be paid like a professional athlete.

I don't disagree that most of the therapists here are very good, but I think it's important to be transparent of the cost. Shortly after waking up from shoulder surgery, a Howard Head therapist arrived in my Vail hospital room and provided me 20 min of therapy, of which my insurance was charged $200 for therapy and $215 for "evaluation". They received $375 from the insurance co. The following morning, I arrived for my mandatory therapy (pre-booked with a different therapist) feeling extremely dizzy and nauseous from the medication that I was given and received perhaps 5-10 min of therapy, at best, and had to leave early bc my nausea was so bad that I couldn't sit down long enough for a session to even occur. My insurance was charged $300 for therapy and $63 for "evaluation." They received $330 for this visit. Two weeks later I personally booked another session at this clinic an hour before my 2 week postop checkup and was charged yet another $300 for therapy and $63 for "evaluation." As a person who has just received my first set of bills, please be aware that these last two charges will always be the case when you are booked with a therapist who has never seen you before. A visit with a therapist you have seen, will be $200, or $180 if you are in-network. These prices are very high and I feel it's something any prospective client needs to know as they are booking available therapists, and prior to the sticker shock you will receive weeks after therapy when the bill arrives. Thanks for your response below. I do stand corrected. I agree that it can be quite difficult to navigate your services, especially after getting your bill a month after your services (billing occurs at the end of each month). After discussing costs with your billing department and with a representative, I realize the luck I had with the one $180 bill. Costs are based on the services provided WITHIN a 15 min window at $100 each. These therapies can be distributed across manual therapy, assisted exercises and other "therapies" deemed important by the therapist. So, if you received 10 min of manual therapy, then 10 min of "assisted" exercises, then spend another 10-15 min performing exercises, the cost will be $300, plus an additional $63 for icing. My Anthem insurance paid and impressive $330 of the $363. Yes, services are specific to the patient and therapist, and the costs I have quoted could be off by a few $ or so, based on the individual services provided. But it is important for people to understand the costs they are signing up for in advance.

The volume of patients going in and out of this facility would normally require a shuttle service and a revolving door. But since most of them are on crutches they speed is slow enough that regular doors work fine. That beings said, this group of world class physical therapists manages their massive workload with a highly personal level of care and attention. They work hard to get their patients back on their feet as happy, healthy, and expeditiously as possible.
