I was at the Grossmont surgery Center for a colonoscopy. It is much smaller than I remember. I was not afraid. Nevertheless, I saw several people who were there for the same procedure as l who appeared nervous. The front office staff person was neutral in relating to others and just took care of paperwork business. However, the waiting room person was very patient and explained things very carefully and in plain language. She was attentive and greeted everyone quickly.
The staff in the back and the treatment room were very friendly and kind. They explained everything and did their jobs efficiently.
The staff in the colonoscopy room, which was really smaller than I remember, were lovely for the 3 minutes I spoke to them before they put me to sleep. After that I don't remember anything until they woke me up in recovery. The staff in the recovery room woke me up gently. This is important because I am a night worker ... sleeping in the daytime is what I do and I sleep very soundly. The person who woke me up touched me gently and gently suggested that maybe I might like to get up, get dressed and go wait in a reclining chair for my daughter to pick me up. She stayed with me while I managed to get dressed, in my sleep, then walked me to the reclining chair which was directly across from the door where my daughter would be arriving.
They are exceedingly well organized and the whole procedure moved very smoothly in small spaces. The largest room was the one where I changed out of my clothes into the gown. It actually had a side room with a full working bathroom.
They made me copies of everything I signed, upon request, including after care instructions which they skimmed over lightly.
Altogether, a very smooth event and procedure.
