I had a hip replacement 11/25/2024, I cannot say enough about the care and the professionalism of the nursing staff! The Surgeons were unbelievable and dedicated! I am so grateful for the care from Gifford hospital!

So I had surgery a couple days ago, my past experiences with all the nurses that have taken care of me in several different hospitals, they were all great. But the nurse that took care of me at Gifford medical center was AWESOME, she made me feel comfortable and just had a pleasant way about her. She needs to be outstanding nurse of the month. Her name was Kelliann.

I experienced physical abuse from staff while attempting to access medical care at Gifford. I was assured that my new PCP had a working knowledge of ME/CFS & that she understood PEM. It quickly became clear that she did not know how to treat this condition & she wasn't even a doctor. She kept referring to her colleagues' judgements & was unable to think for herself. I experienced an episode of PEM during my last appointment & rather than treating this medical emergency appropriately with fluids, electrolytes & rest in a darkened space, staff was sent to the exam room to get me out. I told them I was weak to stand but they didn't believe me and pulled me off the table onto the floor. They kept commanding me to stand. I kept telling them I was unable to stand. One staff grabbed my upper arm so hard that I raised my voice in pain. The doctor in the next exam room came in & angrily demanded quiet. My PCP popped her head in, but said nothing! Neither doctor examined me or asked if I was okay. I asked for a wheelchair but was told angrily to stand! After sitting on the floor for several minutes with staff demanding I stand, someone finally brought a wheelchair. I requested some water & electrolytes, they gave me a bottle of water. They rolled me to my car & helped me inside, then left me. I now have medical PTSD, I tremble & cry every time I'm reminded of the cruel medical malpractice I received from Gifford Medical Center. I wonder if the treatment would have been better if I wasn't on Medicare. Gifford only seems to care about money.

Currently sitting in the emergency room. • I've had to go to the nurses station to get my needs met. Yet they're supposed to do 2 hour checks. Or 30 minutes after the administration of a medication. I've had medication administered 3 times. • Instead of doing the most important test first, as it takes time to get back. They drew blood. When it was brought up that the important test should have been done, it was dismissed. Stating they had other things to do. There was only one other E.R admission, an elderly lady when I arrived. Mind you, she was being discharged as I was entering. • I was treated like an unknowing child when I stated concerns. Was told "I'll find the answer for you" on multiple occasions. No one would ever come to provide the answers to my questions/concerns. • The physician never stated what he was ordering for medications. The nurse had to tell me moments before administering them. • I was admitted from 8.30pm until 2.45am just to be told we don't know what is wrong. But if it persists, come back in the morning. Just to have the possibility that they still wouldn't know. I should have chose DHMC...

The pharmacist on staff at GMC should be fired. When I was admitted there a year and a half ago, he instructed staff to take my emergency inhaler away from me! I have severe asthma, 30% of my lung function. NEVER in my entire life of living with asthma, have I ever had hospital staff take away my inhaler. He asserted that nebulizer treatments are the same medicine, which they are, but they are not delivered in such a manner to address acute onset. Nebulizer treatments are preventative, not to be used in an emergency. There isn't a physician or pulmonologist anywhere that disputes this. It's protocol to always keep emergency inhalers in the possession of patients-ALWAYS. I subsequently ended up with pneumonia because I ended up having an attack while there, and it took the pharmacist twenty minutes to respond with a nebulizer treatment, which took ten minutes more to clear my airways!!! I should have sued the hospital. Maybe I still will. DO NOT EVER GO THERE IF YOU HAVE ASTHMA or any other lung disease. They do not have a pulmonologist on staff and the rest of their staff are idiots when it comes to meeting the needs of patients with asthma.

Registration desk, Meredeth Welsh office and staff, along with Xray folks were all top notch. Great, friendly people that were open, honest, and caring. Also very quick. Very satisfied visit!

Serious lack of communication, told patient she could leave and would get a callback from Gifford without telling them that leaving would take them off every intstitution waiting list and then never called back

My experiences here have mainly been with the er where I have been consistently moved by the quality of care. Certainly everyone that I interacted with was skillful and attentive, making sure I and other people I know got the care they needed. I particularly appreciated the human qualities of all the staff there, I found them compassionate, respectful and deeply kind
