My father has been living at this facility for over a year. He is a quadriplegic. He has now been dropped from the Hoyer lift resulting in a ER visit 3 times. One of which resulted in a dislocated shoulder. All due to mishandling and negligence. Zero accountability, zero training and zero compassion. We are demanding nanny cams and they are fighting us. It's an awful situation. If you have a loved one and you have options, don't allow them to go here. Maybe this will get someone to take proper action, maybe not. In a little over a year there have been 4 different administrators at this facility. Constant turn over with staff. Clearly not a good place for patients or staff.

The facility is dirty no deep cleaning has not been visibly done ever. The shared bathrooms do not have any toilet seat covers in the whole facility. Phone calls to facility go unanswered. Overall it should be closed. Removed my mom immediately.

Do not put your family member in this facility. They don't come at all when the person presses the help button. I heard people yelling for help because of this.i tested the button and had it on for an hour before someone finally noticed after bringing my mom food. I had to go up to the desk multiple times to get help. There is no working phone for them to call and 4 patients share 1 bathroom. When I arrived to visit the bathroom door was locked and I had to get someone to unlock it while my mom used her diaper and had to clean herself. No one took her out for a walk outside and she felt like she was in a prison. She shared a room with a person who was mentally ill yelling and throwing things keeping her awake. I took her out as soon as I was able to and will make sure she doesn't go into a facility unless it has a private room, bathroom, phone, and staff to attend to her needs at a regular basis.

This would have been a 4.5 rating if not for the Social Services department. But more on that later. We felt that our loved one was well cared for during their 5 weeks of care. Nursing, therapy, food services, admissions, reception desk all seemed to take pride in their work and showed sincere concern for the patients. Our loved one progressed well in therapy and was adequately prepared for discharge. Food was OK, edible except for the eggs (in our loved one’s opinion). I visited at least 4 times per week and the visitation coordinator and reception made check-in and COVID testing as easy as possible. Social Services was incompetent in my opinion, at least the person that we dealt with. Luckily, they don’t directly assist in patient care. They did not always return calls or show up for scheduled meetings, delayed processing of important paperwork, failed to advise of appointment changes, failed to have the patient ready to leave for outside doctor appointments and even mis-scheduled the patient’s discharge date. Other staff also expressed frustration with Social Services. My suggestion is to double check and follow up on everything, checking with other departments as much as possible. Be prepared to assist your patient with scheduled departures. In conclusion, ENRC did a good job with the stuff that really mattered.

Terrible! They forgot to order my sister’s medication, rarely administered it on schedule, and dismissed her symptoms of pain and nausea (caused by missing medication times). They were more concerned about their own schedule than my sister’s medication schedule. As a result, she had level 10 pain and nausea her entire stay. I called the desk multiple times and often got no answer. One of the male nurses was condescending. The case manager seemed helpful but could not make up for the pain inflicted by the terrible nursing staff.

They have really stepped up their game as far as the food is concerned, my mom is so happy this time around. Mom has been here about 4 times so far. Earlier this year the food was really lacking in all areas as usual. Huge shift for the better. The nurses have been very attentive and helpful. Only one person I did not get along with and I could tell she was sleep deprived. I would trust them for further rehab and am grateful they take mom's insurance. Encinitas Nursing and Rehabilitation Center has made changes and we appreciate it!

I would never return to this facility nor would I recommend it to anyone. When I was cold, they told me to have someone bring a blanket from home. A used porta potty was not emptied for two days. When I felt the need for Metamucil, they told me they had run out and I should have someone bring some from home.

The staff at Encinitas Nursing & Rehab are some of the best in the county. I am always impressed with their communication, professionalism, care, and team work. The company culture also shows in the way they all support one another.
