Diagnosed a "Fall Risk" I enrolled for Physical Therapy at the Emory Rehabilitation Outpatient Center, Clifton Road. The PT, Katie immediately took seriously my situation and did a thorough assessment; she questioned me about my experience, and about my goals. She was efficient, attentive, and knows her profession well. Katie put a lot of responsibility on me for my healing---that is, she let me know right away that my healing was in my hands but under her skilled guidance. She was punctual and wasted no time. She paid attention, and when I was under excessive stress, she noticed and gave alternatives to accomplish the task. I am quite pleased with my treatments and look forward to reaching my therapy goals.

When first walking into the clinic, it was helpful to have a valet since parking is a bit of a walk. The staff are so incredibly welcoming and friendly. My PT, Katie, is knowledgeable and was very gentle with my tender ankle and walked through her plan and our shared goals clearly. She even listened to my concerns about my child’s development and found places I could call to get the ball rolling on their care. Mostly I appreciated the friendliness of every single staff member, it makes going to PT so much more enjoyable.

One Saturday afternoon in January, the room started violently spinning and threw me and my boring life into turmoil. The vertigo was a symptom of a vestibular crisis that left me with dizziness and profound balance issues. I left the hospital with a walker. The week before I had been playing in a pickleball league, now I couldn't drive or perform many daily life activities without assistance. I called Emory to get a referral to a vestibular physical therapist, one who specializes in treating patients with dizziness and imbalance. I'd had a good experience with the Emory Rehabilitation Hospital after my mom's stroke, so I chose a PT there, Katie Hildebrandt. During my first visit, she told me it would take about 10 weeks to get to back to "normal." I didn't believe her. But I went to PT two times a week for one-on-one therapy and did the home exercises she suggested. Every week my brain got more acclimated and compensated for the damage in my inner ear. It's been three months to the day since I was released from the hospital. I told Katie that she's a miracle worker, it took fewer than 10 weeks for me to feel like my old self. Her knowledge, patience, and concern made all the difference. Everyone at the rehab hospital, from Katie to the parking staff, to the receptionist and check-in staff were all so kind and supportive. I am grateful to them all. Emory Rehabilitation Outpatient Center is a wonderful place.

Katherine Hildebrandt, a Physical Therapist at Emory Rehabilitation was one of my favorite healthcare providers. She always takes time to understand my issues, and invokes me in decisions about my recovery. She is always paying attention to my pain level, and she helped me recover the mobility and strength in my shoulder after I broke it. I highly recommend her as a Physical Therapist!
