I am employed for this nursing home, and I wouldn’t shred it for anything. The staff treats their residence amazing and they treat their employed amazing

Could not have found a better place to become my mother’s home when I could no longer provide the help she needed. I realized quickly that these people become like family to their patients and are there for them when some families can’t or won’t be. I have no doubt that they loved my mother and provided good care for her. The staff was always very professional and compassionate. Elba Nursing Facility was a blessing for me and my mother!

The hospital recommended rehab after my mother had a stroke. This facility was one of the few that accepted her insurance and allowed visitation. Because of covid, most facilities had a two-week waiting period before being able to visit. Elba Nursing and Rehab said they would allow us to visit immediately with masks. We also had the option of video chats to check in on her. The very first day, her call button was on the floor under the bed, away from her so that she could not reach it. My mother has severe food allergies. Her allergies are well documented, and we ensured that all allergies were written everywhere possible. She was repeatedly given food that she was allergic to. She needed help eating and cutting food into small portions. Not only did they not help her eat, the staff repeatedly just sat the tray in front of her without even removing the top from the food. I came in several times, and her tray was sitting in front of her I had to cut the food up myself. She then ate it as if she was starving. I witnessed them bring food trays in, then 5 to 10 minutes later, ask if she was finished. The frozen drink had not even thawed before they were attempting to take the tray. Several days after I came in, her skin was cold to the touch. She wasn't able to cover herself, and even if she could, there was no blanket even in the room. When I asked for a blanket, the CNA started sighing and getting an attitude. She was sitting at the nursing station but stated that she was really busy. I had to ask them to bathe her. She was left in her waste. There was fecal material left on the bed rails, sheets, etc. When we attempted to video chat with her, the person positioned the camera away from her face and stood in the room the entire time so that I didn't feel like I could speak freely. During the entire call, I wasn't allowed to see her. The camera was facing the wall. They lied to us about her progress and repeatedly told us she was progressing even though it was clear that she wasn't. When I complained about her treatment suddenly, she wasn't progressing, and they needed to send her home. Please don't send your loved ones here. A majority of their patients have dementia and can't complain. When they know you're coming, then they attempt to clean and feed the patient.

Negative star. My grandmother, Boots Carter, was neglected to such an extent for over a year that she had night terrors. She would scream out for water. They locked her up during COVID and kept the few good nurses from caring for her. A man named Cam laughed at me when I called to ask someone help my grandmother brush her teeth. Every time I called after, this man referred to me as the “dental hygienist,” and laughed; I could hear him on the other end of the phone. The State of AL conducted more than one investigation on this place and found the concerns to be true, including taking away my grandmother’s adjustable bed because she couldn’t sit up. When I finally got her transferred to Enterprise, she was in quote, “Bad Shape.” This was said by Enterprise. Her hair was long and shabby and her fingernails long and unkempt. I hope those who helped her during this nightmare will be blessed and those who harmed her will see God’s judgment.

This facility is very hospitable. I could not have imagined sending my grandfather to any other place. It was already hard putting him into a facility knowing that we would have limited access due to the pandemic but they did everything they could to help the transition be smooth. We were allowed to FaceTime, have window visits, and we could call and speak with the nurses or the office administration and get the answers we needed. Couldn't have been lead to a better place.

They promise to call back about admissions but never do....makes you wonder....I got a bad feeling on the phone with the lady anyway, I figured she was giving me the run around and I was right.
