I was recommended Dr Jensen from a doctor friend who had worked with him before for an injury to my shoulder which severely limited my dominant arm use. I was only able to get an appointment with Dr. Caldwell, who I was able to see about two weeks out and assured me they would switch me to Dr. Jensen after getting me in. Spent 5 minutes with Dr. Caldwell, got an xray which of course showed nothing and then sent for 6-8 weeks PT. When I returned with no progress after those PT session and similar pain/loss of use, my appointment lasted less than 3 min and he referred me for MRI. He didn't bother asking any qualifying questions for whether I could have MRIs, when I was rejected for the MRI from the scanning facility, it took 3 weeks of unreturned messages before he finally responded to me saying, well, maybe you can get an ultrasound and referred for that. The scanning facility called to say, no, we don't do ultrasound for diagnostic purposes. I wasted 2 months in pain, trying to get basic care. They office is unreachable and rude, and if you're stuck with Dr Caldwell, don't bother. After the delays and waste time, I called UCSF sports medicine, and had an appointment, comprehensive xrays, and MRI within a week showing a large full thickness rotator cuff tear with bone detachment, it would never have healed without surgery and has best outcomes when repaired within 6 months of injury. Seeking care with East Bay Shoulder was a massive mistake and my surgery, care, and communication was night and day at UCSF comparatively. I hear Dr Jensen is a good surgeon, but it doesn't matter if you can get any care or attention. WOULD NOT RECCOMEND.

I had a consultation with Dr. Kirk Jensen in early December. He seemed caring and listened to me, and probably gave me good advice, but I haven't been able to apply for worker's comp - another process that will take months - to get the treatment he recommended paid for because he couldn't be bothered to have the visit notes delivered to me for 2 months. Supposedly they are finally in the mail. If you need your visit notes try refusing to pay until they deliver them? I don't know.

Horrible experience with the office. I had a consultation January 21st for a simple torn labrum. It was an injury that happened at work the April prior so I was going through the hoops of workers compensation. It has been 4 months since my consultation and he STILL hasn't notated the meeting to send to work comp. I've called 15 or so times and the receptionist is either flat out rude, or promises me that he will do it first thing and they will call me back. To this day they have not called me back ONCE. I am hopelessly frustrated with Dr. Jensen and this office. If you have a worker's compensation claim, I highly suggest NOT going to this office. I couldn't be more discouraged with this situation.

I found Dr. Jensen by asking other orthopedic surgeons who is best at shoulder replacement and they all gave the same recommendation. He is a perfectionist and he takes his time. Far too many orthopedic surgeons boast about how many surgeries they can do in a day and that is not what I want for my surgery.

What a great doctor. DR K Jensen is a very caring doctor. It really feels like he cares. It is so hard to find a doctor that will spend more then 5 minutes with you and answer all of your questions in this area. But I found it here with Dr. Jensen. 😊
