Please, if you are in need of a driving evaluation, rehab, adaptive equipment, or whatever brought you to this review… do yourself a favor and start here. I am a below knee amputee of my right leg. It was due to an injury that occurred while cycling. I was transferring my license to MD and had to be evaluated for my ability to drive to obtain the new license. I researched multiple options. One was minutes from home and work. Instead i chose to go two hours away to DRCE. It was the correct choice. My experience could not have been better. From my initial phone call to my last evaluation I dealt with compassionate and knowledgeable professionals. You will not be just another person in need to these amazing people. They will give you an honest evaluation you can trust and be your advocate. Thanks to my entire team that worked with me. You have my enduring gratitude and respect.

Over a year ago, I suffered a significant injury to my foot that made driving, and many other everyday activities, a real challenge. The loss of independence was overwhelming, and I began to wonder if I would ever regain the ability to drive again. That’s when I discovered the Driver Rehabilitation Center of Excellence (DRCE), and their incredible team gave me hope. The staff at DRCE went above and beyond to help me regain my freedom. They installed a specialized driving device that allows me to operate the gas and brake using my hands, completely removing the need for me to use my injured foot. The level of care, attention to detail, and professionalism they showed throughout the process made all the difference. Taylor, Amanda, Rich, Ruben and Tammy are wonderful and amazing individuals. It was such a privilege to meet them. Because of DRCE, I am now back to driving confidently, which has allowed me to return to recreational activities I enjoyed before my injury. The team didn’t just provide me with a device - they gave me back my independence and a renewed sense of normalcy in my life. DRCE did an awesome job of helping me get some of my independence back by being able to drive again! The OT team evaluated my peripheral vision and reaction speed time first and then we had a few driving appointments together, even venturing to downtown DC past the capitol building to give me a taste of heavy traffic with a lot of pedestrians. The staff were very helpful in all of the driving exercises and I felt ready to drive on my own. They also do vehicle modifications for people who need them to operate a vehicle. I would highly recommend DRCE for all your needs for coming back from an injury and hitting the road. Thank you to DRCE!

DRCE is an excellent center. They train you on their vehicles and help you decide what kind of hand control is best for you. Then their mechanics install it in your car making sure it fits you just right. Everything was very professional and helpful from Ruben, the front desk administrator to my teacher, Amanda, to the mechanics that installed my hand controls. I felt safe and well trained. Amanda, my teacher, was exceptional. DCRE is the only place I refer folks for hand controls.

Tammy and the whole team at DRCE went above and beyond to help me get back behind the wheel after seven years of trying to get everything right. Driving as a quadriplegic has several challenges but they were no match for this shop's knowledge and expertise. If it weren't for them, I don't think I would ever drive again. Absolutely top-notch from start to finish. 10 out of 10 recommend!

It took me so long to find a place who would install adaptive equipment in my vehicle, after lots of searching I found DRCE. Such an amazing company with great staff. They were very professional, and I have gotten 2 of my vehicles adapted now.

I want to thank DRCE for being there and helping me get my new car modified with a left foot accelerator. Rich Tully really helped me out through the whole process. He answered all my questions and even met with me before we arranged the pedal installation, and went over all my options and pricing. He even gave me a tour of the DRCE facility and introduced me to some of the team members. He got me scheduled for the pedal installation in a time frame that was quick and worked with my own schedule perfectly. The technician Charles that actually did the pedal installation did an awesome job. I have been driving with a left foot accelerator for over 25 years and Charles did one of the nicest and cleanest and well positioned mechanical left foot accelerator installations I have seen yet. I purchased a new car and wanted my hand controls transferred. The Dealership refused to drive to MD to drop the car off to the person I been going to over 10 yrs, but it’s a little far. A quick google search I found a place in Alexandria. But they had my car for a month and to top it off the car felt weird. The initial location mention DRCE for a prescription update and I called for advice, that when I found out they also did hand controls installs and the reviews where amazing. I took the car the next day I finally got my car back to get it inspected. Noah explained in detail what they did right and what was wrong, and how to fix it. I was dreading not having a car for another couple days, but to my surprise it was done in one day. And it was done correctly! Everyone there is friendly, professional, and they look like they enjoy working there. And, it shows with the amazing service.
