Terrible. Do not send your loved one here. The KP doctor prescribed a medication for my mother that would've caused her existing cancer to grow and spread faster. When I confronted her about it, she didn't even apologize, just said "in that case, I've changed my mind and no longer recommend it". Keep in mind that the warning about giving this medication to cancer patients is very clear on the manufacturer's website - it took seconds to Google and figure this out. She clearly didn't even check her chart to see what pre-existing conditions she had, medications she was taking, etc. I'm terrified thinking about what she endured when I wasn't there, or what she could've endured if my family and I weren't as involved in her care as we were. The communication was terrible - staff would change her medications without communicating with my family and I. We had to chase down people every day looking for updates and were continuously left in the dark. My mom only stayed less than 3 weeks. I wish we could've avoided this particular facility entirely. They neglected to change her bedsore as frequently as needed. She had a stage 3/4 bedsore that was not changed in the last week - I only know bc the day she was transferred to another facility, they saw the date written on the patch when they admitted her - a date of 5 days earlier. It was soiled, foul-smelling, and wet. If you know anything about bedsores, it's that they should be changed VERY frequently, usually once a day MINIMUM. To top it off, she lost almost 20 pounds in 2.5 weeks. Absolutely abysmal. Do not do it.

STOP .. Please read before thinking about coming here or sending a loved one here. I wish I could leave ZERO STARS My grandmother had a stroke a few weeks and she was at Kaiser in San Leandro for a week. Our family picked this place as my family lives in Alameda and we thought it was great as family didn’t have to drive far to visit her. This place partners with Kaiser. From the second my family brought her here ( she came by ambulance) , we knew it was bad but no other Kaiser facility had an open bed. We had her for a week and here are the things to make it BAD. -They told my grandmother and my family if you hit the call button and no one comes, start throwing things out your room and we will come. - Workers would hide in her room to text. - She was having lunch one day and she told my aunt she had to use the restroom. My aunt goes to the nurses station to ask for a bedpan. ( the two nurses look at each other dumb founded). My aunt asked again. Finally a nurse comes in and said well I can’t find a bedpan plus she is eating and wearing a diaper so can’t she go in the diaper. My aunt said she would like to try and use the bedpan. An hour goes by and no one came back. - If she wasn’t in physical therapy, she was in her bed. They never set her up in a wheelchair, so she gotten infection in her lungs. ( so she had to go back to Kaiser. ) Her Pt told her after her therapy to stay in the wheelchair and we will come back to move you. ( my grandma did really like the physical therapy people.) . I believe it was time for lunch so they needed to move her back into her bed and one person tried to move her on her own and my uncle had to help her. Mind you physical therapy said that it needs to be two people to move her. - she was never showered there. - we were looking for another facility (even a private one ) because of here they were treating her and I was in the room. They came in and basically bullied her and said, i heard you are looking for a new facility. I have a facility calling saying you are moving. Why you don’t like it here ? You don’t like us ? - it was dirty. For the week she was here no one came to clean her room. There was blood on the ceiling and clothes from a roommate even though she didn’t have a roommate.

This place has some good staff. The food is horrible. The patients are great. Some of the management is very unprofessional and make rude comments to the staff. They raise their voices at the staff and treat them like they are nothing.

This facility deserves 0 stars. The scheduler have put multiple hard working staff on “do not return to the facility” for no good reason. This place is FULL of staff shortage EVERY SHIFT and the scheduler- he will lie on you to keep you from returning. Registry staff are seeking legal action for being lied on by the scheduler. The staff doesn’t deserve to be overworked and short staffed and the residents deserve proper care. The facility will continue to suffer with this scheduler working there. The scheduler doesn’t know what he is doing

If I could give 0 star I would. This facility has full of negativity. Employees are very rude. There is one Nurse that name Joyce, she talk to me and she keeps yelling and humiliating me. I asked her why is she yelling at me and she keeps doing it and keeps talking without anybody in front of her. There’s also one patient that approach me and she started getting mad at the patient in front of me. THAT’s AN ELDER ABUSE!!!! I don’t think she’s well capable of taking care of the patient’s if she’s unable to composed herself and be professional. I WILL REPORT THIS TO STATE!!!

i cannot stress enough how important it is that you make sure you place your loved ones in a safe, secure, comfortable spot. CROWN BAY IS NOT IT !! my grandmother was ignored, insulted, and literally SLEEPING WITH ROACHES!! the place is infested with roaches, and when i told them what was going on they simply said it wasn't in their jurisdiction to fix that. how is it okay for people's loved ones to sleep and eat with bugs?? not to mention, my grand mother would press her call button and they would LITERALLY come in the room and turn the "help" light off and simply walk away. EVEN WHEN IM THERE. my grandmother has told me countless things this place has done to her, and she was a lot worse when she was in there then when she was at alameda hospital. i have addressed these issues countless times with the staff and "social workers" and they state they are going to fix the problem and absolutely nothing would come out of it. i 100% believe that they are milking the seniors for their benefits. there is so much more that i can't fit into this review. PLEASE, SAVE YOURSELF AND YOUR LOVED ONE THE STRESS OF COMING HERE!! i ended up pulling my grandma out against medical advice because of how disgusting and downright TERRIBLE place it is.

My uncle stayed here for three weeks the first week he was doing great. Then the second week I was told I wasn’t able to visit because a staff member was exposed to Covid and to be on the safe side no guest were able to visit. I came back the third week after it was okay to visit and he wasn’t him self at all. He couldn’t even feed himself. I gave a nurse a list of medications for him to take and instead for one week he didn’t get any of his medications. They lost the paper and didn’t notify me. He couldn’t even feed himself he was so weak. When I arrived I didn’t like the state he was in so I had to MAKE THEM transfer him to the hospital. Especially after his roommate told me he hadn’t really eaten for 1 week. I believed him because when I visited his food was on the floor and drink spilled everywhere. You would think they would CALL ME OR SEND HIM TO THE HOSPITAL. AND THEY DIDN’T. He later on died in the hospital. And I truly believe it was THIS facility’s FAULT. THEY TOLD ME 1 week later that he wasn’t eating nor not taking any medications. I will definitely be suing this facility.

Our experience with Crown Bay was amazing!! From start to finish. Plenty of parking, front desk rep was very helpful and professional, very clean and always smelled like they were disinfecting. My dad wasn't walking when he was was admitted and by the time he was discharged home he was walikin over 50 ft. I would highly recommend Crown Bay to anyone looking .
