I've been working with Joel for over 20 years and he never ceases to amaze me in how he is able to treat my injuries and pain in a way that brings healing without medication or surgery. I highly recommend Joel Carmichael and the Center for Spine, Sport and Physical Medicine!

When I arrived, I was not greeted, then I was told to go into a room but then taken out of the room because the receptionist didn't ask me any questions & didn't know I was a new patient. She left my medical paperwork on the top of the front desk until another receptionist offered to take care of it while I was still waiting to be told what to do. Carmichael pushed me to do dry needling even though I voiced that I was not 100% confident or comfortable with it. He originally said they would only be in for about 3 minutes, but left them in for closer to 10. After my "treatment" I had intense lower back pain (where he needled me) for almost a month after. When I called to tell him this, his suggestion was to then get an ultrasound that wouldn't have been covered by insurance. I didn't opt to spend more money and time with this doctor since the first treatment and experience overall was already a nightmare for me. Joel was not understanding & kindness is something he needs to work on!

Joel, "Chip" has been taking care of me and my sons since 2012. I can not imagine NOT having him in may life to help us feel better so we can live our best life. Salt of the earth.

Started off great. Got me through some back issues I was having. Then went in for a maintenance adjustment and Dr jarred my back. He knew he did it immediately when I said something wasn’t right and bent down to touch my toes and my back popped. After that visit I couldn’t walk right for weeks. I called the next day explaining what happened and that I could barely walk, all I got was “sorry Dr is completely booked, soonest he can see you is next week.” Wth I can barely walk because of him and he can’t see me till next week. He never once reached out to see how I was doing. I didn’t pay my bill for over a year seeing if they would reach out. Didn’t hear anything. If your looking for true health care this isn’t the place unfortunately.

I've seen several different chiropractors in the past and for the most part most of them wanted to immediately put me on some kind of long term (often prepaid) treatment plan or sell me other therapies that had little to do with my back pain. Dr. Carmichael told me on my first visit that his plan was to treat my problem with as few visits as possible in order to get me well and out enjoying good health. His treatment has been really effective and I always leave his office feeling much better. I've learned to listen to my body to tell him what I'm having issues with and he has no problem working on them. I really like that he addresses the entire musculoskeletal system and doesn't mind digging into a stubborn muscle knot to make it loosen up. I'm really happy that I found Dr. C!

Last spring, I had, what turned out to be, a bulging disk and was in excruciating pain. I'd never had any real back problems before, so this was new and unpleasant, to say the least. I was referred to Dr. Jon by a friend of mine, and I'm so glad I asked! He was great, very knowledgable, and bc he had been through the same thing himself, was able to formulate a treatment plan very quickly. He explained every single thing about my issue to me, which I really liked. I'm a fan of anatomy and physiology and like to know exactly what health care practitioners are doing to me. It took several weeks of adjustments, dry needling, therapy and medication, but I was finally able to stand up straight and walk normally. It was a horrible experience, but I'm so thankful for Dr. Jon's knowledge and enthusiasm. The front desk staff was great, as well. Easy to work with. I have not seen their new office, so I can't say anything about that, but my overall experience was fantastic, considering the circumstances, and I would not hesitate to go back.

I love Dr Jon! He is very friendly, easy to talk to and doesn't waste time with moving to the next step if I'm not progressing quickly enough. He is very clear on explaining what he's doing as well as possible treatment plans as my situation can require a lot of trial and error (myofascial pain syndrome). Dr Jon has knowledge in modern and holistic methods/ treatments which I appreciate. This is the longest relationship Ive ever kept with a chiropractor and it is because he doesn't try to get me on any crazy programs that require my constant visitation and "maintenance". His theory is if you're hurting come see me, if you're not, I'll see you when you need me again. My Brother and I swear by him! The staff is great too :)

My lower back brought me to my knees just over a year ago. I have always been wary of going to a chiropractor. I went to a practitioner after having met their practice at a health fair. They helped my back a bit but I felt that their front office accounting was suspicious and ended up paying more than quoted and the treatments seemed to have no end. I then found Dr. Carmichael. I knew I was in the right place from the moment I walked in the office. Friendly, professional front desk staff that knows how to work with insurance. The treatment I received had me back on my feet after just a few treatments. This was his goal and he lived up to it. I am so grateful to be back to an active lifestyle and wouldn't hesitate to go back if the need were to arise.
