I really love Brookdale Riverwalk. The residents and staff are very friendly so that we feel that we are all family! The staff is open to hearing our concerns and suggestions. They are open to incorporating suggestions we might have. Special events are planned to add to the fun. Live music events are planned at least twice a week. Transportation for shopping or appointments is available. A variety of good food is available on the menus in the dining room from 7am to 6 pm with a one hour break in the afternoon. We appreciate the apartment cleaning and laundry service. All that I have mentioned is included in the monthly rent. Brookdale Riverwalk is really a wonderful place to live!

We visited most of the retirement homes in Bakersfield and felt Brookdale was the best for my mother. I was apprehensive when we moved her in about her getting lost or being happy. She moved into her new apartment in April. All of the employees are five star and always greet her by her name. They are loving and caring. They have so many wonderful activities for the residents. Today they had a wonderful luncheon with flat iron steak and shrimp. My mother dances in the line dancing and the exercise class. I never would have thought she would do that. They have so much for them to do everyday. She plays bingo four times a week and gets her nails done. Her apartment gets cleaned and too many things to list. I am so happy that my wonderful mother is happy and I no longer have to worry about her. Move to Brookdale and be happy like my mother. You will be happy too.

It is November 21st, 2024. I would give no stars if I could. FIND ANOTHER FACILITY OR PLEASE check on your loved ones if they stay here. My grandmother has had a stroke and is on day 4 of recovery here. I’ve sat with my grandmother from 7am to 7pm(visiting hours) and NO ONE checks on her. The first day no food was given and when I confronted the CNA, she lied and said she did eat. However, my grandmother is paralyzed and unable to feed herself. My grandmother said no one had even checked on her that morning. Each time I go in at 7am my grandmas bedding is soiled as if no one checks on her at night. She uses the call light for assistance to the restroom and no one responds or if they do, it’s not until hours later. My grandmother wasn’t given a meal again tonight so I had brought up my concern to the CNA. When the CNA stepped out I overheard a man(I’m assuming supervisor) say “you have another formal complaint” the CNA said “ oh god, another one?” and he responded with “ I wouldn’t worry about it, it won’t go anywhere anyway”. I am absolutely mortified of the treatment here. My grandmother also has a roommate whose being neglected as well. This is level B in one of the 200’s room. I can only hope this complaint does in fact “go somewhere”.

Mom has been a resident of Clare Bridge at Riverwalk since April 2023. The staff of Brookdale are amazing, keeping mom engaged in activities, talking with her, remembering her stories, communicating with us, and keeping her safe every day. Brookdale's management team is approachable, helpful and caring - they have been there for our family every time we have questions or worries. It gives us great peace of mind to know that Mom is in a clean, safe place with people who show genuine care and concern for her well-being.

The roof in building A leaks......but only when it rains. Homeless people that live along the Kern River which is next to Brookdale infiltrate the property at night through the dimly lit parking lot and break into vehicles and the buildings themselves. Not a safe place for your loved ones!

Visiting my mother, who was placed here for physical therapy. This was her second stay, and I am grateful for the staff and treatment she received during her stay. The facility is always so clean and the staff really provide a great atmosphere for the work they provide.

My mother-in-law is in memory care in the Clare Bridge facility at Brookdale Riverwalk. She just turned 95. Previously she was in the assisted living facility where she had a stroke and was transferred to the skilled nursing care facility for a short period. It was very helpful to have all of these levels of care in one place. It is reassuring for people with dementia to be surrounded by a familiar place no matter what is happening with their health. Everybody knows her and says hello when we take her out in the wheelchair. The caregivers in Clare Bridge are attentive, loving and patient with all their charges. People are moved from their beds wherever possible to be part of the community in the living room or recreation room. My husband and I rest assured that she is treated with as much care as we ourselves would give to her. The support staff is always friendly and ready to lend an ear as soon as we walk in the door to sign in at reception. We are very happy about the choice we made for her longterm care.
