I am a PTA in North Carolina, and was hired by this company a couple of years ago for a full time position in a skilled nursing unit in Durham, NC. I submitted my application, and did an interview and was told I was hired. I went to work on the first day and the recruiting manager that hired me told me she needed to see my original social security card. I had a copies of my social security card and PTA license with me, and gave both of them to her, but she told me copies were not acceptable and that she needed to see my original SS card. She did not tell me previously, before the first day of employment that she needed to see the original SS card. If she had told me before, I would have brought the original. So she told me I had to go back home, get my original SS card and take it back that day. I lived 45 mins away from the facility, and asked her if I could just go home for the day and bring the SS card the next day, but she told me that I had to go and get the card, and bring it back the same day because they needed my help that day. So I left to go home and get the card, but decided on the way home not to return. I feel like her asking me to go home and return in the same day, (45 min drive one way) was very unreasonable, and could have simply allowed me to work the first day and bring the original the next day. She had a very clear copy of the social security card in her hand.

They are horrible. Allow me to share why you shouldn't use this company.. This company is used for rehabilitation therapy at the nursing home that I am in.They are very unorganized. I own my own electrical muscle stimulation machine. When I first got here I asked them if they would help me use it properly. They told me that they are not allowed and are not trained in it. 6 months later I found out that they are allowed to use it. When I brought it up months later for the second time one of the therapists told me they would help me use it and that they are in fact allowed. So why did it take 6 months for them to help me use my EMS machine!? They just don't know how to use them! How is that possible!!? They supposedly went to school for this but don't know what an ems machine is or how to use it. . And they don't own one!!? That's sad. I left other nursing homes because of the lack of care but they had decent therapy. Now I wish I stayed and put up with the crappy care so I could have better therapy.. some of their equipment stopped working over 2 months ago and they still have not replaced it. On top of that they have a problem telling the truth. First off, The therapists are actually only COTA s, aka therapist ASSISTANTS. I am trying to learn how to walk again and use my left arm after having a stroke a year ago. I have made great progress so far. The therapy team here stopped giving me occupational therapy. When I pressed them about the issue to continue therapy they told me that my insurance would not pay for it. I called my insurance company. They said they would pay for it as they have been with no problem. So I went back to the therapy team and told them that I know they are lying about my insurance. They then changed their story and said they decided to stop giving me occupational therapy because I had plateaued and was not getting any better. This is a flat out lie. So I met with my previous therapists from other places and they have all told me that they see great improvement and do not believe that I am anywhere close to being plateaued. After getting other therapists opinions and notes I went back to the therapy team again and told them that I believe they are wrong and that I have not plateaued. The therapist actually had the nerve to agree with me and tell me they believe that I have not plateaued and admitted she lied about it because they did not want to work with me for the simple fact that they were not doing exercises that were helping. I addressed that issue with them in therapy one day and asked them if we could do different exercises that would help with my personal situation. After I addressed the issue of them doing useless techniques I was no longer welcome in therapy. I believe that they are upset that I called them out directly and told them about their lies. On top of this they use the equipment that belongs to my nursing home, which the administrator of the nursing home told me that they are supposed to have their own equipment and not supposed to use the nursing home equipment. However they leave the equipment in the hallway and block the hall so that I cannot get through with my wheelchair. When I addressed this particular situation with them they also still did not move the equipment back to where it was supposed to be. They still left it in the middle of the hall. The therapy team does not seem very interested in actually helping people. To them this is just a grocery store show up and get paid job. I believe that they should take their jobs more seriously as people's lives are in their hands. I also believe the therapist assistant here is very sexist towards men. She has a very bad issue with not listening and being very closed-minded. I've never met a woman that was so obviously a man hater!! I am a very direct and forward person. When I see these issues and try to discuss it to correct the situation then the therapist assistant LITERALLY told me " I'm not going to argue with you" and walked away. Very immature. Apparently it's an argument if you try to have a conversation

Not knowledgeable. ****READ THE REVIEWS *** ALL the 5 star reviews are only from workers and employees. I am 240 lb and 6 ft tall. At other therapy places I have dealt with very knowledgeable and professional therapist who had great techniques and new exactly what to do and how to do it. For example one of my old therapist was only 5 ft tall and could not have weighed more than 120 lb. She was able to get me into a therapeutic position called quadriplad.. maybe quadriped position... I know how to pronounce it but not exactly sure how to spell it haha . If you don't know what this is, it is simply the position of being on your hands and knees.. this 5 ft tall therapist was able to get me in this position by herself. I also had another therapist that was pregnant and about to bust, she was also able to get me in the quadriplad position. However here with BRR their therapist assistants whom 2 are men together couldn't do what those 2 women did by their selves!! This is a poor excuse for a therapy company.

I’ve worked in skilled nursing with contract and in house therapy models for 12+ years. BRR has provided great support, education and resources. Very positive experience and the most support and growth I’ve experienced from any prior company. Patient centered approach and care about their staff.

Broad River Rehab is by far the best company I have ever worked for! Working with a team that truly cares about you, appreciates your all efforts, and shows that they value YOU is a dream come true. Could not ask for better employer, but Broad River is so much more than that! I moved out of state for the opportunity to work at Broad River Rehab, and it has been one of the best decisions of my life. I am so grateful for Broad River Rehab and the wonderful team that I get to work with!

I have been working as a therapist and rehab director for a long time now and have worked for multiple companies. I have enjoyed BRR the most. They genuinely care about their employees and their patients. We're talking multiple tiers of management that consistently shows appreciation to their direct care teams. They know good culture=happy employees=better patient care=better patient outcomes.

Poor management, awful Director of Rehab, unrealistic expectations of seeing 12-16 patients daily with 15-30min treatment times in addition to completing an array of documentation, and resistance/objection to discharge patients despite their high levels of independence/highest levels achieved/refusal of treatment.

I’m a speech therapist working PRN for BRR and my experience with the company has been stellar. I’ve had great experiences with communication with managers within the company, they offer great flexibility related to hours and locations for treatment, and they’re wonderful about recognizing hard work from the staff. Overall, just a great company to work for!
