This is the recovery area for Falcons, Hawks Eagles, Owls and other birds of prey. Among the Raptors on the mend are permanent surrogate mothers (unable to survive in the wild) that raise orphaned chicks & broods until they are able to thrive in the wild. The rehab and educational center is open to the public only 2 days a year. The volunteers and staff do a fantastic job for our magnificent Raptors.

There are not many out there that do rehab raptors. If you can find another place take it there and NOT the Birds of Prey. . Look for CO Springs, of wherever. Use Birds of Prey as your last choice. I volunteered there many years ago and so coincidentally found a hurt hawk in our backyard. My son and I drove 100 round trip to get this bird help. I mentioned to Andrea Lutz that I had a connections with the facility and wanted my son to share in the release several times. Andrea was kind of enough to take several minutes to write me and let me know the bird was released. She however couldn't take 5 seconds to text me and let em know when and where so I could have shared in this special event. Sigrid, the founder who passed away would never have treated a person who cared so much to bring an animal in this way, covid or no covid. I am ashamed of this place I used to love.. It really doesn't matter if I volunteered there or not. To know this bird is alive due to our human gesture, spending a full day to drive to Broomfield, and a lot of gas money to save this bird, The least BOP could have done was to notify us of the release. That is a disgusting, cold , and as low as you can get. Almost as cold as Andrea's BS letter. At the end o the day, You don't treat people this way. I don't care what how busy or what your excuse is. If you have a bird being released you should do the right thin,g. I know as Andrea took the time to lest me know they took in 400 birds last year. I also know and have been involved in many releases. I know 100% that they are not slammed with releasing birds and that every SINGLE release if brought in by a caring animal lover should be contacted. I will from now on look for other options or let nature take it's course. Something has changed there. Sadly the founders spirit it gone. Tweet's spirit is gone too. They cared as much about the people who would bring in injured birds as much as the bird. I have no Idea but it appears instead of the good old boys club this is now run but the good old girls club. I am ashamed of how you treated my son and I. This should have been a great learning experience for a child and a lesson he could have passed on to do what is right for an injured animal . To see the bird he saved fly. You are shameful in my opinion and for that I suggest people find other alternatives because they don't care about YOU! George

I used to volunteer here 💕 I worked with Sigrid and I was sad to find out that she had passed away 😢 It was one of the highlights of my life.
