I have to say that Kevin at Balance & Body basically saved my life. I was nearly crippled with a herniated disc and major sciatica pain. It was beyond any pain I have ever had to cope with, and I was physically unable to work or participate with my family in any activities like normal routine house car or playing with my children. Kevin was honest, gave me an assessment will being cautious on promising any substantial improvement; the severity of my injury meant I most likely needed surgery rather than physical therapy. Nevertheless, Kevin gave me a few weeks of treatment to see how my body would respond. To my relief, physically, mentally and emotionally, I began steadily improving, my pain was dissipating. I committed to another 10 weeks of treatment from there, and I never looked back. We've worked on not just healing my injury, but improving my back strength and stabilizing muscles that have me back in action at work, lifting and using my back strength; this time wifh proper technique and a more conscious awareness of my body. I can not recommend Kevin enough. He absolutely has a caring sense of treatment, is conscious about setbacks and only wants to take you as far as he knows your body will allow. I am so thankful that i stayed the course, and I wouldn't know where I would be now if I hadn't found Kevin. I was in so much pain, feeling lost from Kaiser and the usual run of the mill hospital treatment. Thank you, Kevin, for caring, focusing, and treating me like you really wanted to see me back out at work and involved with my family. I hope everyone on the edge of committing to Kevin's 5 or 10 week program, takes the leap and trusts in his care. I'm so thankful that I did.

I've had Kevin as my PT since 2020 and I am immensely thankful for his knowledge and the work he's done with me throughout these years. When I first met him, I had terrible, chronic upper back pain. He walked me through the causes (poor posture, lack of strenght) and gave me exercises I could do and performed cupping. It took a couple of sessions and the results were night and day! I've been mostly pain-free since then and visit him for regular checkups. Most recently, I tore my ACL and required surgery. Thanks to Kevin and Thuy, I've been able to fully recover and get back to running - I can't thank them enough because they were essential in my recovery and now I'm pain-free and back to running!

I always had back problems from a accident when I was seven. A Few years ago I had issues with my knee I saw a therapist at Keiser for a few months and they just brush it off as arthritis...I couldn't stand up in the grocery store for more than five minutes, nor bend my knee... A friend introduced me to Kevin, and I took my first session back in March 2023.. Day one I felt the tension in my back released. The second session I was walking a whole lot better the pain in my knee is no longer there thanks to Kevin.. I definitely will recommend you give Kevin a visit for your pain..

I have had the pleasure of having Kevin as my therapist by need & a developing friendship by choice. I fractured my ankle late April & had surgery (open reduction internal fixation) on May 4, 2020. I'm 3 months status post & recovering very well, thanks to. Kevin. My fisrt visit with Kevin was June 15 (about a week after my cast came off) I was unable to walk & had to be on my knee scooter. Kevin is unlike any other therapist or therapy you've ever experienced, from day 1, he made me incredibly comfortable with the treatment he outlined. I was afraid, I would never walk in my heels again & that I would have issue walking in general. Kevin not only provided amazing one on one therapy sessions, he also taught me a great deal about the mechanism of my body & foot. Not to mention taught my husband how to best help me while at home by showing him how to message my foot/ankle to relief the swelling. He also taught him what to do about relieving pain on his shoulder, Kevin was great at taking a few minutes of his own time, after my session to do this. As of this past Friday, 9 PT visits later, Kevin has discharged me as I've advance to a level where I'm able to walk without any issues & am able to wear my 2 inch đź‘ progressing up to my 3 & 4 inch. I hope never to need him again, but if I or anyone I know does need him at any point, I will not hesitate to return to see him or recommend him to others. We should all be so lucky to have Kevin as a part of our recovery process. Thank you, Kevin for all you done for me & my recovery.

RECLAIM YOUR LIFE The moment I strained my neck, I knew it but it was a couple of days before the rigidity set in. It was tolerable, life got busy and I let it go.... though it constantly nagged at me. Two years later, adding insult to injury, I fell impacting my entire left side, especially the back of my head. Now, I was tied up in knots and unable to fully rotate my head. In addition, I was getting headaches. I met Kevin Mao at a previous location. He assessed me with a severe strain-sprain. To my amazement, he was able to free up my injury within a few visits! I found him at his new location and continue to see him for other issues that has settled into my body. I worked for a chiropractor for 12 years as a massage therapist. Never having injured myself through trauma, receiving physical therapy brought a new perspective to healing and recovery. I had a soft tissue injury that was not being fully addressed because manipulation of the skeletal structure was not enough. Kevin's intuition about the body and its function goes beyond technique. Not all physical therapist are the same and not all bodies respond the same. As he is working, he is constantly monitoring and assessing your response, looking for trigger points to alleviate and accomplish the best results. I am so appreciative of the time and talent he expends in a compassionate and careful manner! I am now an avid supporter of physical therapy. I encourage others to not wait. It does not go away and get better on its own! Kevin generously offers a complimentary consultation. I had my husband go for constant knee pain and he is now benefiting from care as well. Thank you Kevin, for helping me reclaim my health and balance!! I can't wait to get back to exercising on a regular basis.

I came to Body and Balance as a last effort to correct a problem. Had been suffering from knee pain to the point where it altered my workout. I had been working out 4 to 5 days a week, but the pain reduce that to once maybe twice a week and quit riding my bike completely. Been to the doctor who suggested knee replacement surgery and at 60 years old didn’t think that was a good option. At the consultation Kevin presented to me that the problem with my knee was the result of my lack of joint mobility at the knee and ankle. Interesting theory, which I hadn’t hear before. Thought I give it a try, surely wasn’t going with the replacement surgery. Wow, he was absolutely correct, after going through the program I am back, better than before I came to him. My mobility has to be in the upper 10% of my age group. I can do all my workout routines and most importantly I am riding my bike all the time without pain. Kevin’s recommended exercises are a permanent part of my workout routine. Thanks Kevin

Kevin Mao has a very well thought out approach to focusing on wellness. Along with his valued hands-on experience as a practicing Physical Therapist, he goes through a methodical and systematic approach to finding out "what's ailing", and more importantly getting to the root cause of the problem. After dealing with a leg infection and a very uncomfortable muscle inflammation caused by bacteria , I had very sore muscles in my legs and hip that kept me from walking normally and hampered my normal day to day activities. After being treated in the hospital and rehab through a series of antibiotics over several weeks to overcome the bacteria, I was discharged but had to use a cane to help me in walking to lessen the pain and to help maintain my balance. My first visit with Kevin was for him to test me and get the baseline facts for diagnosing my condition. He dedicated ample time to be able to fully focus on my condition and conduct a comprehensive hands on test and assessment. I appreciated that he took the time and effort to do so, without being rushed to get the session done quickly. How effective has he been, with the follow on treatments I've been receiving from him? Well, by the second session (within a week of the first), I felt much improved that I tried walking without my cane the next day and walked all day, as well as did some of my interesting sports activities (lightly initially). I felt relaxed, loose and with substantially reduced discomfort - hence, more energetic. By the next (3rd) therapy session with Kevin, I felt even stronger and at ease that I'm convinced I don't need the cane to help me walk anymore, so I've put the cane aside. I look forward to completing the rest of my scheduled physical therapy sessions with Kevin over the next few weeks and literally get back into the "full swing" of things. Even with just my brief experience with Kevin, and I had the opportunity to substantially discuss very interestingly with him his whole approach, philosophy and basis of experience for providing his services - backed up with very tangible improvements that I've experienced in just a few sessions with him - I enthusiastically cheer Kevin on with the very important and specially personalized service that he provides to his patients and highly recommend him without reservation.

I have been seeing Kevin at Balance and Body Restoration for about a month now and would like to recommend them! Due to a variety of medical reasons and sitting at a desk for several years, I struggled to walk normally and to stand for more than a few minutes at a time. My right knee was permanently in a bent and bowed position. After two sessions with Kevin, my knee was significantly straighter, improving my gait. I could tell something wonderful was happening when I spent at least a half hour visiting with a friend while standing. In fact, I didn't recognize what a miracle that was until after I walked away from the conversation! Talk about an improvement in my quality of life! It's not a miracle one-time cure, but I improve significantly with each session. Prior to working with Kevin I had tried traditional physical therapy, chiropractic care, knee surgery, and acupuncture among other things. This therapy has made the most improvement.
