Recently, my had a hospital stay and I was hoping Madison House had availability as we've had a good experience in the past when she needed care. Having an elderly parent needing rehab is a stressful process and wanting to have a place I trusted was paramount. I reached out to Nancy Lewis, the Sr Admissions Director of Madison House /Genesis. Nancy is amazing in her knowledge base of the health care system, helped me navigate through a very complicated process while always having my moms needs for care in mind. She is incredibly helpful, highly accessible, and a great resource. Madison House is lucky to have such a dedicated employee that puts the clients needs first. The nursing staff and PT team are thorough ,responsive, compassionate and attentive to my moms individual care plan and health needs. Sam and Carlin are just super awesome!! :) Superb nurses that provide exceptional, patient centered care for my mom while providing me updates even before I ask. And somehow, always manage to bring a smile to her face. The aides work hard to take care of my moms needs while doing their best to make her feel as comfortable as possible... with a smile, making a joke or just simply being kind, patient and compassionate... especially when the facility is short staffed. We've had different experiences both good and bad both during our mom's stay's at different facilities...all things considered because of the "PEOPLE" at Madison House this has been our best experience yet. More to follow... :)

In response to Kemecia Arthur’s review/attack on Madison House… I have worked for Genesis for many years and have seen Madison House grow to be a good place with hard-working staff. We all pull together to provide the best care for our residents. As with everything in Life, there are good and bad days at work. But the good days definitely outweigh any bad ones. We have excellent communication skills with each other and always work through difficulties together. A happy staff gives the best patient care! And we treat our residents as family. I am proud to be part of the Madison team. My advice to those who choose to focus on the negative at Madison House and blast all that out into the world - find work elsewhere. There continues to be a Nursing Shortage and plenty of other jobs out there. All the best to you and yours.

The nurses have been very nice and caring to my mother but my issues are with billing and social services. I have explained my mothers financial situation and just recently revived a bill for over $10,000 with no warning. How do you send someone a bill for that amount without any warning that her balance was that high or insurance was not paying.

This is not no 4 stars place. There are a few good personnel who work here. Like many facilities, there are improvement needed in various areas. Manipulation & divination in this place is at an all time high, so stay prayed up. I speak up for anyone who's voice are suppressed The attitude of many staff are unprofessional, alot of gossips about other staff, resident & family members, creates a toxic environment. Improvement in patient care and staffing is needed. I have reported it to the old management, the DNS was Noreen, and administrator Marlene and nothing was done. They informed me that certain staff have been here for a long time and this is home, so I just need to get along. This is the resident's home or patient's temporary home, we are just visiting. In any place of business, people need to leave their attitudes, drama, unprofessional behavior, profanity and inappropriate conversations outside the door and walk in ready to work with a professional attitude. There is no code of conduct that is actually being implemented. The ones who do less, complains the most to make the ones who actually do their job, look like the problem, hence the staff turnover rate is high and less people stay. Also Angela the day supervisor, who is now the DNS was notified and aware of what occurs. The leadership has not been that great as many have focus on being friends or having validation from others, instead of running the place as it should. I have called the number in the employee handbook, and wrote something to corporate and nothing got done. The handbook is not implemented as it should, and it seems like the rules only applies to some. When you report something, then there is retaliation, and some sit and plot who and how to get them fired, especially on the weekends. The weekend Supervisor Anita O and some staff members rabricated a situation that never occurred, as a form of retaliation. They have been planning to jeopardize my license. Since I asked a staff member who was playing music on the 3-11 shift, if she can turn her cell phone down, which she refused and I let her know that was rude. The policy states no cell phone use in the building, but like many other rules not being upheld. The way some people scrutinize others, you would think that time would be invested on their character and actually working. As someone who had Covid in 2021, hospitalized and recovered. Returning to work was an adjustment on my body. Once being someone who worked numerous hours and attended school to someone who could not exert pass a certain limit. I give all praise to God for the ability to call myself a survivor. Being a patient for the first time and not mentioning that I was in Healthcare, gave me the bitter end of the stick, but God. Having anyone in the hospital or a facility, I encourage that you be involved in their care. Many lack empathy, a heart and just judge. The attitudes were and are alarming. I have experience intimidation, manipulation and scrutinize by some of management, as well as staff in hopes that I resign. Empathy is absent by many, more humanity needed. Example; The first rule before entering the building is parking. Some staff park in the visitors spot and handicap without a permit, there are hardly any close spots for many visitors when they arrive, that alone speaks volume. Many staff spend more time on their phones and gossiping instead of actually caring for the residents like they should. Management is aware of it. If a family member is very involved with that individual care, then they are deemed difficult, etc. I recommend being involved in your family care. Do not just let the sweet manipulative talk that some give persuade you otherwise. Have hope and pray for your love ones. Potential is in this place compared to Quinnipiac Valley Center in Wallingford which was shut down. Hopefully, with proper management and repairs things will change. Since writing this review, retaliation has been at an all time high, but God. The Most High God sees & fights my battles, I am just a vessel.

Madison House is a top-notch skilled nursing facility. Staff is very attentive to resident’s needs. My Mom moved from a nursing home that had quite a few issues. The most striking difference is how clean it smells throughout the facility. Food is fabulous and is very fresh which is unique. Administration is professional, and they are continuously engaged with the families and the residents. Recreation department has daily fun activities for the residents. Admission was a straightforward and efficient process; unlike the last place my mom was in where I signed the same documents at least three times. Couldn’t be happier with this skilled nursing facility!

My father was admitted to Madison House to gain strength following a hospitalization with pneumonia. My family and I greatly appreciate the caring nursing staff. The environment is light and airy, extremely clean, and inviting. There is a beautiful courtyard, which makes visiting your loved one a very joyful and relaxing experience. The town of Madison is exquisite, with Hammonasset State Park right nearby. My father had to go to a doctor's appointment, and a transport van was arranged, which made the trip easy for our family. I recommend Madison House for these reasons.

My mom is a resident here. We love the care she receives! The staff is excellent and professional. From the start when she was admitted we have been kept up to date on her care and involved in her care plan. Nancy in admissions is excellent! The cleaning staff is outstanding here, the floors are clean, the bathrooms are clean, they work really well as a team in this facility. The nurses and aides work hard, keeping up with all of their patients. Thank you Madison House staff!

My husband has been a resident at Madison House since January. He unfortunately suffers from Alzheimer’s. I couldn’t be happier with his care. He is always clean and usually out of his room with others which is important for his condition. The staff is excellent and always helpful. I’m very satisfied we chose Madison House.
