Athletico Physical Therapy - Mesa East

I would like to take this opportunity to bring to your attention what I believe to be very valuable employees. I am retired from the U.S. Navy after serving all 30 years in the submarine service where professionalism was and still is a must. I believe with this basic background I am qualified to identify this valuable quality in the working environment. My profession was in Administration and Personnel where quality customer service was a must. I have just completed 11 weeks of physical therapy at your facility identified as "Mesa East" for a total knee replacement. I live in a 55+ facility and have four personal friends who have received knee replacements recently (within the past year) and am aware of their progress during their physical therapy sessions. I am not aware of what facility any of them attended, but three of them were right here in the Mesa area and do know that none were at an Athletico facility. The fourth friend lives in the state of Washington where she had to have her knee "reworked" because for whatever reasons, she did not receive the proper care, whether it was the fault of her, her PT facility, or her surgeon. In talking with these people and comparing what they went through for their therapy I knew right away that one of us was in the wrong place for proper therapy and I can assure you, it was not me. When I arrived at the Athletico Facility "Mesa East" I was provided a schedule that included Eric Torgerson, PTA and Kathryn (Katie) Dektor, PT, DPT as my primary clinicians. Right away they evaluated me and began my therapy in a most professional manner. Knowing what my four friends received as therapy, I knew I was in the right place for my knee to get "fixed" properly. My feeling was that after the hour-long session we could be friends again, but for that hour it was all about getting my knee where it is supposed to be. I earned every milestone and that's the way it should be. And for that, I thank all of them. Each of the 3 visits per week, after receiving my knee/leg therapy on the table I was usually received by Sophia Heath who cared for me in completing the rest of my therapy for that day. My last event of the daily session was on the Nustep machine where I peddled for 10 minutes. I usually observed Sophia and in her absence two other technicians constantly titivating the work area, changing pillowcases, sanitizing the tables where patients had been laying, and putting therapy gear back where it belonged and other "housekeeping" requirements. It was obvious that they all did these chores without any direct supervision, getting ready for the next incoming patients. I also observed that all of the working personnel in the room during my one hour stay always worked as a "team". They backed up each other and were required to fill in for each other and were required to fill in for each other when necessary. While performing the housekeeping duties, they were always checking on me to make sure I was doing OK and not needing any intervention on their part. I was just so impressed with this whole professional operation that I felt it necessary to bring this to your attention. Wayne Shaw Mesa, AZ

I cant rave enough about Athletico in east mesa. After returning from overseas trip I went into the ER & found out I had bulging disks & that was the reason for my lower extremities were tingling & feeling numbness. I was given a script for PT so after getting back home I looked up near by places & what my insurance had listed. Here is where I found Athletico. It was explained to me how this bill would appear per insurance & not to worry. Ok cool! I started off with Emily for 1 month (she was relocating to another area so that's why I only had her for 1 month) she was fantastic. She was bubbly & so kind. During that time I did work with Donovan once & Emily told me he will continue my PT sessions after she left, again Ok cool! I did get to also have a few PT sessions with Lauren & she was fantastic also. Today, 8/15, was my last session. Altogether I had 12 sessions & although I still have tingling in my feet, Donovan explained how long it can take for nerves to heal but my symptoms have drastically improved. I have all the tools to continue working out at home & switch things up on my Athletico app. I'm going to miss coming in & seeing amazing people & talking about what's going on. Highly recommend this place & I would return but only if necessary.

Katie and Eric have been absolutely fantastic in the progression of my recovery following two back surgeries. They know when to push a bit harder and when to back off a little. I had no idea how weak I had become after being down for about 8 weeks post-op. My strength is back and I have the tools to continue in my recovery. They also incorporated some alternative methods in which I had great success I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this office to anyone. Thank you all for improving my quality of life!

The folks that work here are the BEST!!! They are very professional, but also kind, caring, patient, & understanding. That's the "status quo" at this place. And Lauren is a super duper person and physical therapist! I have also worked with physical therapists Stephen & Jeff, who are great, and so is the receptionist, Jan. Never worked with Eric, but he is nice, too. However, Lauren went over & beyond when I became dizzy right before my therapy began. She placed a cold pack on my neck, got me some water, and was very comforting and accommodating. When the dizziness let up a little, she had me lay down in a darkened room with the cold pack still on my neck. Her concern was really touching. I was probably there for about 45 minutes or so, but still didn't fell well enough to drive. Lauren offered to take me home! It brought me to tears. Unfortunately, you don't find people of her caliber that much in the medical field. It's sad but true, and my friends echo the same sentiments. In contrast, Atheletico Physical Therapy, and especially Lauren, deserve big KUDOS! I would HIGHLY recommend this place to anyone.

Excellent care every time I go in for a session. Lauren and Matt make it their business to understand your goals and challenge you to achieve them. They explain what they are doing and how it will help recover range of motion and strength. A very professional team that is a delight to work with!

Had a total knee replacement and Eric and Katie just did an outstanding job on my therapy. My wife is now going to them for ACL/MCL reconstruction!

Amazing staff! They are all so helpful, kind & informative. They explain each exercise and how it will benefit you. I had most of my lower back fused and had little range of motion. I asked them to challenge me and they do when they know I"m ready. They have improved my stability, my strength and & my range of motion. I have more sessions left and I'm excited that by the end of therapy I'll have the movement & function I desire. The facility is very clean (they clean between each client) well lit, lots of windows for natural light and spacious. Best Physical Therapy organization I've experienced!

After interviewing several companies, it was Athletico East Mesa I selected for my physical therapy after surgery. This was the best choice to make and I was very happy to go there. Jeff and Lauren make a fabulous TEAM to work with. They listen, problem solve, and give solid directional guidance all along the way. If I ever need additional physical therapy, Athletico - with Jeff and Lauren, I would be happy to have on my TEAM again to help me achieve great recovery success. Great job Jeff and Lauren. Keep up the fantastic customer service and true patient care you provide to all customers.
