Athens Orthopedic Clinic & Urgent Care-Snellville

I’m writing on behalf of my 77 year old mother. Back in December she injured her hip. We scheduled an appointment a few weeks later with this office after visiting urgent care. After imaging, it turned out she needed a hip replacement surgery as according to Dr Florence her hip was bone on bone. They gave her some pain meds and sent her home, telling her to make another appointment to schedule the surgery. She called back a week or so later saying the pain meds ran out and the pain was excruciating. So they had her come back and gave her a steroid injection, and scheduled her pre op appointment for May 17th! This was back in March. The injection helped a tiny bit. But her hip just got worse and worse. She called in mid April asking if there was anything available sooner than May 17 and she was told no. She then called back a week or so later insisting the pain was so bad something needed to be done. They pushed her appt to May 3rd. This past Saturday she woke up and couldn’t walk at all. So I took her to the hospital. They have been wonderful. Both her and I called Athens ortho to let them know she was in the hospital, and it took THREE messages to get a call back. When they did I told them the situation and they said she still would need the pre op appointment and that the soonest they could do surgery was 4-6 weeks!!! I asked how she was supposed to live as she can’t even walk from her bed to the bathroom and they basically said there was nothing they could do. No empathy. I also said she can’t even walk from my car to your office how am I supposed to even get her there? They offered no solutions AT ALL. When I told her hospital orthopedic Dr this he was dumbfounded. He managed to make a miracle happen and is doing her surgery tomorrow. I’m so thankful for them being wonderful at Northeast Georgia Medical Center and actually CARING about their patients. I have never experienced such a lack of care from a Dr in my life as my mother has from Athens Orthopedic Snellville office. And when I talked to them their lack of solutions for someone who couldn’t walk told me all I need to know. I would avoid them at all costs and find somewhere else.

This staff is unreliable! I got injured and was referred to this clinic. I was asked to get a referral from my PCP, got it and still 8 days after they don’t have the referral and denied me an appointment! I am never going to this clinic. I Do Not recommend it to anyone!

Outstanding and friendly service. I was met with friendly people and smiling faces when I arrived for my first appointment. They did not hesitate to apply the necessary steps to get a good diagnosis for my issues. Not did they go out of their way to provide any accommodation to help me feel comfortable they took the time to explain what they discovered and then discuss with me to help decide the best way to move forward in hopes to get back to a normal life. I am fortunate to have crossed paths with them and am grateful for their professionalism and knowledge they shared with me

Dr. Smith is very professional and is great at his profession. I have been a patient since 2018. He performed shoulder surgery, and after following his advice and expertise, my healing, recovery and therapy was fantastic. My shoulder is doing well, as if I never had surgery done. Missy and the staff are very professional and pleasant. Athens Orthopedics is a wonderful group, you won’t be disappointed.

The team at Athens Orthopedic is awesome. The check-in staff smiled and asked me “if I was Anita; which i replied “yes!” There was no delay after check-in. The med assistant called me back to place me on a room and within minutes had a X-ray technician to get films that were needed. I openly expressed how efficient they were as a team! And my Physician is always welcoming and she provides great explanation of my care. Even check-out staff was wonderful as they collected copay and per visit’s note, that I could call for next appointment. Thanks guys for a great medical experience!

Dr Shane Smith and his office staff are the absolute best and most polite group of physicians that I have ever been to. This is my 3rd procedure with him and he and his staff are very professional and have taken care of me and my aging knees without any problems. I would highly recommend seeing them if you have any issues at all with your knees, ankles, shoulders, hips, wrists or elbows. They will not do any unnecessary work and are completely honest with all evaluations right from the beginning.

I had rotator cuff surgery back in January with Dr Hawkins. My surgery turned out great. I had very little pain and good range of motion. My physical therapy went well. I now have full range of motion and my strength is back. Dr Hawkins and Kelsey did an outstanding job.

Dr. Cochran was very knowledgeable and thorough in his examination and explanation of what was wrong with my husband’s arm. He was also able to schedule a surgery to repair his arm in a timely manner. His assistant Marley was also prompt in coordinating insurance benefits and explaining all the fees involved. We would highly recommend this office.
