My 96 year old father was placed on hospice and needed to be in a skilled nursing facility. I chose Aspire at Cahaba because my house was just minutes away, and I knew I could visit daily. Little did I know that the staff at this facility were going to become like family to me. I would never have made it without Amanda, Rick, Leslie, Lakeisha, Talisha, Dana, Susan, and Collette by my side every day. They took care of my father like he was their own family member. And a special thanks to LaKeisha who lights up a room every time she walks in it, Talisha who was so kind and caring, Dana who made sure that everything got done, and Susan who was so sweet and reassuring to my father. They will never know my deep gratitude and how special they all were in both of our lives.

I now know the meaning of an angel sent from heaven. My father is going through delirium and it isn't letting up. At a particularly tough moment over the weekend, our angel named Keisha showed up to my Dad's room. I'd never met her before because she works on a different floor. She was asked to come see my Dad and now I know why. She was so calm and comforting with him. She knew how to help him relax. She helped me understand what he's going through. She helped ME relax which I couldn't do for a long time. Her beside manner was truly special. Keisha is a professional in every sense of the world and she cares for her patients just like they were her own family. The world needs more Keishas.

My mom was admitted to Aspire for a little over a month . My family has really enjoyed Dana and a few others taking care of her. We could rest easily knowing her food wasn’t just going to placed on a table and no one check to see if she’s eating it. We didn’t have to worry if she going to be check and clean without an attitude when Dana was on Duty. So thank you Dana and a few of the other staffers that made life easier for my family and I.

My mom has alzheimer's, and requires assistance in all areas. The Cahaba Cove hall has been great for her! She has so many CNA angels looking out for her - Susan with her impeccable work ethic, Telesha with her big heart, Collete with her willingness to do anything, Dana with her friendliness, and Yasmin with her huge smile (just to name a few). Nurse manager Amanda is always willing to listen and make adjustments if needed. My mom enjoys the food, the activities, and the pretty campus. It takes a village, and we are thankful for ours!

We are grateful for the care of loving CNAs. Dana checks on my mom all day, to meet all of her needs. She, Collete, and Telesha work great as a team. Susan always shows up with a smile & works nonstop. Amanda, the unit nurse manager, has been kind & attentive too. My mom enjoys smiling & laughing with this wonderful staff each day.

My husband went here on 10/25/24. He suffered a server brain injury 3 months ago. Was time for him to be discharged into a skilled nursing rehabilitation facility. Found this one, reviews were not prefect but non of them are. He was transported by ambulance. We arrived at 8:30am that morning. By 2ish that afternoon we were in the ER- When we got there my husband was having a lot of secretions which required him to be suction from his tracheostomy. I received a call from Kaitlyn one of the administrators over the nurses. She was pretty irritated and was pretty aggressive in her approach to let me know the facility that my husband came from did not represent his condition accurately. That these nurses have 15-20 patients to themselves and they do not have time to go in there every hour to suction him. That they are only required to go into the rooms every 2-3 hours. That if she would have known he was needing more medical attention then she would not have accepted him. I told her I cannot help nor do I have any control over what the facility sent over. Personally think she was very unprofessional in the way in which she called me as if I’m the one that sent the referral. I went and talked to Tracy and Ashely and they both were very helpful and understanding and a heck of a lot more professional in how they handled the situation. I expressed that I now was not comfortable with leaving my husband there with not having monitors on him and the fact that they are not required to be in there but every 2-3 hours, because he could aspirate and nobody would know it. They offered to do a x-ray to make sure he did not have any fluid in his lungs. Two nurse practitioners came to talk to me (cannot remember their names) and told me that the x-rays looked good and showed no signs of pneumonia, and they feel it’s best to have him transferred to UAB hospital, and he would not be able come back to their facility. Now please keep in mind we are 2 hours away from home, and with my husbands condition he cannot come home and he cannot travel without some sort of emergency transport. I felt homeless with my husband at that moment. Like what if the hospital said he was not sick enough to stay there and I needed to find somewhere to go. I’m not in my home town, trying to get into facilities is not like calling them and telling them your on your way. I felt absolutely taken back by how they seemed so desperate to get us out and was going to do it at any cost. So, they called and it was going to be 18 plus hours before they could come pick him up through regular transportation, so Aspire made the executive decision to call 911 so they would come faster to get him out of there!! When we arrived at the ER they asked what brought us in, and I told them all the above. One nurse said “yeah I’ve heard if they don’t want you in there, they’ll go to desperate measures to get you out”. Well the ER did their own x-ray and bloodwork- yeah my husband has pneumonia in BOTH lungs!!!! But Aspire told me they looked “good”. I even told the two nurse practitioner that the images looked cloudy to me, but I was no radiologist but he’s had several x-rays at this point and I’ve gotten very familiar with how his lungs look in good shape and when he has pneumonia. My husband was admitted into the hospital on Friday with pneumonia in both lungs. This is a nursing home with a lot of elderly patients and I was told my husband was NOT the sickest patient there. So due to the age of the patients, I believe it’s actually quite risky to only be checking on your patients every 2-3 hours and for these nurses to have 15-20 patients each. But the math does not add up. If a nurse has 15-20 patients and she works a 11 hour shift (hour lunch) then there is no way they are seeing all those patients every 2-3 hours. Nurses aid can only do but so much.

My mom has been in Aspire Cahaba LTC for 6 months. I have been touched by the love and care she has been shown by the staff. From day 1 one of the Nursing Assistants (Telisha) has been EXCEPTIONAL!! She has gone above and beyond to care for my mom as well as other residents!! I can’t say enough good things about her!! It is so refreshing to see someone that loves her job and truly enjoys caring for others!

My family member was sent to this facility for Rehab. She was heavily sedated and neglected while she was there. We lived so far away that my family was only able to visit one day a week. When I went to see her she was laying on a urine soaked bed that was dry. The nurse blamed it on my family member. She was so sedated that visit that I couldn’t wake her for more than a minute or two. She was sent back to the ER for dehydration and malnutrition plus a staph infection. The ER doctors were surprised she didn’t die. Now at the hospital she is awake and back to her normal self mentally.
