I visited Dr. Shimenek for pelvic floor physical therapy following the birth of my 3rd child. She was able to identify and rehabilitate areas that were causing problems for my digestion, hip pain, and neck pain that were all associated with post-pregnancy, childbirth, and breast-feeding. This was my first time working with a therapist on my pelvic floor so her calm, warm demeanor and assessment discussion at the beginning of each session was much appreciated. She also provided helpful exercises for me to do at home to further strengthen my pelvic floor and abdominal muscles. I look forward to working with her again for other physical therapy when needed.

My OB recommended I do PT after having a C-Section to help with the recovery. I reached out to several physical therpaist who advertised postpartum recovery, but was immediately impressed with Dr. Shimanek's responsiveness, passion, and comprehensive approach to postpartum recovery. I also loved that Akasha Physiotherapy is women-owned and run. Needless to say, 6 weeks postpartum I had my first appointment. Dr. Shimanek is very thorough and creates such a comfortable environment that within the first 5 minutes I felt at ease and in the best of hands. She helped greatly with my scar tissue mobility and pelvic floor strengthening. In those sessions I learned more about my body and postpartum recovery than I had ever expected and continue to do the exercises she taught me. Dr. Shimanek is fantastic and provides exceptional care! I highly recommend.

I've been seeing Dr. Sarah Shimanek since November and I have seen a huge improvement. I gave birth recently and had so much abdominal pain and pelvic floor issues. She was able to pinpoint the issues and I'm able to enjoy life again. She is knowledgeable, caring, and easy to talk to. She made me feel comfortable which I loved because it's hard to find someone who isn't dismissive of postpartum issues. I highly recommend her & will forever be grateful to her for helping me with my postpartum journey đź’›

Sarah is amazing!! Seven months after giving birth I was still dealing with painful postpartum issues. A friend referred me to Sarah, and through a combination of hands-on care, emotional/psychological support, and holistic health guidance she guided me to recovery and healing. I can’t recommend her highly enough. And her office is so lovely, feels like a home - warm, comfortable, inviting. I will be forever thankful for her help.

I’ve been seeing Sarah Shimanek for about 3 months now and the improvements have been significant. While I initially reached out to her to treat pelvic floor issues, we have also been treating some lower back issues that I would have never thought could be connected to my pelvic issues. She’s been great at making me feel comfortable during treatment and very thorough at explaining the process or answering any questions I come up with.

I’ve been seeing Dr. Sherine for a few months and I can say without hesitation that my quality of life has exponentially increased in that time. Sherine is an amazing physiotherapist, listener, and giver of care as she really hears your concerns and adjusts treatment to meet you exactly where you are at. If you are experiencing any pelvic discomfort at all please call Sherine and you she will help and lead you down a new path of wellness.

Dr. Sherine Aubert at Akasha Physiotherapy is absolutely phenomenal. She is so professional and attuned to the nuances of my body. Pelvic Floor PT is a vulnerable treatment. Sherine has this magical personality that melts away my emotional distress during treatment. Addressing my mind, body, and spirit through her approach, Sherine has absolutely changed my life for the better. I am so grateful for her.

I love Sherine. She does an amazing job. I’ve tried out possibly 4 other pelvic PTs in SoCal and no one compares to her. I call her “magic hands”! As someone with chronic pain from endometriosis pelvic floor dysfunction, she provides real pain relief.
