My experience of the acute rehab is very positive. My dad went in there with a stroke. And He is way more stubborn than a Mule, I feel that the care he was given Was great and I'm highly appreciative. Thank you, dignity health and all the members of The Arroyo Grande acute rehab.

Next time I get hit by a car and break both my legs, and a couple ribs I'll definitely go back.

My husband was at the AG Community Hospital and Acute Rehab Center off and on for several weeks late last year. The ICU and rehab program was very good and I appreciated the care he received. I want to alert people, however, that if you belong to a CalPERS PPO, you will be balanced billed for the doctor's who work in the facility that do not take your insurance, even though the hospital itself takes the insurance, and you will not be warned about this beforehand. I have been billed approximately $4,000.00 so far, beyond my insurance's (PERS Select PPO) maximum $3,500.00 in deductibles and copays that have already been met. I received another large bill just yesterday, nearly 4 months after my husband's death, and just over 4 months since he left the facility. It is scary to think what else may be coming. My husband was also in French Hospital, Twin Cities, and Marian Medical Center, but, at least so far, I have not received balance bills from doctors in those facilities, even the ones who apparently don't take my insurance. Only doctors at Arroyo Grande Hospital and Arroyo Grande Acute Rehab have balanced billed. Going into hospitals, especially in emergency and high stress situations, there is really no way to know if the doctors working there take the same insurances that the hospitals themselves do, which turns out to be a whole other nightmare on top of the nightmare you are already dealing with. Again, I am not complaining about the care my husband received, I just want to warn others who may have CalPERS PPOs (and there may be others, I don't know) that you are not protected from balance billing. While some doctors apparently choose not to balance bill even when they legally can, at least a number of doctors who work at the Arroyo Grande Community Hospital and Acute Rehab Center do, and people should just be made aware of that.

My mother was sent to the facility twice to help her with her post surgical rehabilitation after removal of a brain tumor and also after further treatment for glioblastoma. Her first stay was very good, at that point she was still very strong and able to work well with her therapists, and showed improvement. Months later as her condition had progressed and her tumor returned, she became extremely weak and was referred here a 2nd time. But this time she was at the point that she struggled to understand the requests of her therapists. One in particular by the name of WADE showed visible frusturation with her inability to follow his requests. He wasn't the only therapist that she felt frustration from. It was as if some of them had no medical knowledge on the impact of brain tumors on the body. It was very sad for my family that during some of her most challenging moments, my mom expressed sadness about the treatment she received from some of the staff at this facility. I will never understand how 'medical professionals' here were unable to show compassion and understanding for a person struggling with terminal illness. I will say that the nurses, aides, and social worker were always kind and respectful.

I just called to ask protocol for protecting patients against covid 19. They currently test all patients coming in but there is no testing for the staff or healthcare workers. All patients are at great risk of contracting covid 19 at this facility.
